    We arrived around 10:30a.m. and left our luggage. We were told they would call us when the room was ready, but we never received a call. We came back at 3:30 p.m. and had to wait longer than expected, which was disappointing. The hotel is in a great location, close to everything in the city and within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants, and attractions. The room has a nice industrial, minimalist style. However, the bed faces away from the harbour, so you can only see a partial view while lying down, which feels like a wasted opportunity. The pillows weren’t very comfortable, and the bed was just okay. There was no microwave in the room, but the staff were kind enough to heat up our food, which we appreciated. Overall, it’s a nice hotel with a great location and friendly staff, but the check-in experience and a few room details could be improved.

    Four nights for my parents from 8-12 April 2026 came in at almost ***. For that kind of money, I expected the Mövenpick name and those five stars to be doing more than decorative work. Spoiler: they were not. Credit where it’s due - the location is genuinely excellent. Central, walkable, convenient to everything. Truly the highlight of this entire experience. The room itself, however, told a very different story. Dated finishes, a tired overall feel, and visible stains that should not be passing housekeeping at this price tier. My father also left with mystery itchiness that outlasted the stay, which is the kind of souvenir nobody asked for and raises real questions about how the linens and soft furnishings are actually being maintained between guests. When you’re charging five-star rates, the deal is simple: the room should be pristine, the linens should be immaculate, the finishes should feel current and hygiene should never be a question mark. This stay missed on every count. The location is doing some heavy lifting here, but at this price point it shouldn’t have to. Refresh the rooms, tighten up housekeeping and the property could genuinely earn the rate it’s charging. As it stands, guests are paying five-star money for a three-star experience in a great postcode.
