Object Hotel - 1A Loft

Overall, I was happy with the room. The hotel is right in the middle of everything. The location of this particular room was great because it's directly across the street from parking with no stairs. The main room is very large with high ceilings. The bed was super-comfortable. The hot water was very hot with lots of pressure, which made a nice shower. There's a full-size fridge/freezer.

The main room was dimly lit; on top of that, several light fixtures didn't work. The kitchen apparently used to have a gas stove; maybe it's in the shared kitchen; I heard that there's a microwave too. The shared kitchen is somewhere up several flights of stairs -- not convenient for carrying hot food! The bathroom exhaust fan didn't work; this could make the sleeping area (outside the bathroom) unpleasant. There was a sign next to the dishes saying something like they hadn't been cleaned and/or sterilized by staff (?), so I ended up re-washing them. The only cooling are two ceiling fans and a strong but very noisy pedestal fan; the windows didn't open (and were too high to reach, anyway). There are no curtains on the windows, which was OK since the sun wasn't shining in the windows when I was there. (If the sun comes in during the summer, I suggest the hotel put some thin curtains up to filter it.) Some floors here and in at least one room upstairs creaked when walking across them. The listing mentioned free parking but didn't say that the lot is fairly small and first-come first-served; there's more limited free parking a block away, up a slight hill.

Roomy, clean and well done in an interesting artsy style.

Some safety concerns present in the event of an emergency, should one occur.
