We spent 6 nights at Palais Wunderlich and could not have found a better spot for our time in Lahr. The accommodation is well located,10 minute walk to the centre of the city, the Marktstrasse for shopping and dining. 10 minutes to a grocery store (Rewe or Edeka) and there is a convenience Penny Market right across the street. Our unit was fully equipped for cooking a meal and essentials like coffee, salt and pepper, olive oil and vinegar were in the unit. Dishwasher included as well! The furnishings are comfortable and lots of storage space for clothing. WiFi worked great and Netflix and some English news (CNN) was a nice to have. The grounds are lovely and peaceful with plenty of spaces to sun yourself or seek shade and there is a terrific garden room off to the side of the terrace where you can buy local beer, wine and other drinks on a pay as you go basis. There is also a small lounge/cafe area which offers a fancy coffee machine as well as various on site made preserves and treats. Underground secure parking is available - the first time we’ve tried a car lift in an underground garage! We relished in feeding the family pet rabbits with vegetables we bought at the local market on a daily basis. We were checked in by the friendly Eba our first day and afterwards our host Alexandra made us feel very welcome visiting with us from time to time so we got to know her and the history of Palais Wunderlich. We would definitely stay here again and tell all about this gem.
