Exceptionally Good in Every Way

My wife and I have stayed at Hotel de la Paix several times, and the place never disappoints. This past week (two-night stay) was exceptionally good. Robbe and Josephine, the owners, are great hosts, the room was beautiful and clean, the dinner in the Café was out of this world, and breakfast hit the spot (the eggs!). Can't beat the location, either, with free parking easily available just off the Grote Markt.

Central location, close to various Attractions and places of interest

Would have been helpful to have the location of the Free public car park before hand. Entrance to the car park is concealed between 2 buildings Room 5 is at the top of a flight of stairs. Won’t be suitable for anyone with mobility issues However great view over The Grand Place and a sun terrace

Our room wasn’t made up on our last night. It was sorted by contacting our hosts. There was a bit of confusion when we asked about this , apparently we were in our room when the cleaner came , but they never came back. There was no indication that the cleaner wished access.

We loved our stay and will definitely return in the future

The location in the centre of Poperinghe was great for exploring the First World War battlefield… close but. It with the crowds of nearby Ypres. The adjacent restaurant was superb.

Rooms overlooking the square could be noisy… customers of nearby bars could be heard in the early hours… I guess it’s the price to pay of a central location and not something that the property can do anything about.

The rooms are of a very high specification and nothing was too much trouble for the hosts. The meals, breakfast and dinner were good quality and with plenty of choice. An exceptional property and exceptional service. Will definitely aim to book again.

Perfect for us & motorcycle on tour.

This was a repeat visit for husband & friend. On a short annual motorcycle tour, they were welcomed with the usual great hospitality & convenience of location, & comfort. Parking was behind building & secure. Looking forward to staying again.

Great place to stay in town center

We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment which was so nice for our family of 4. Super clean and recently remodeled. Great location right in the town square with easy free parking nearby. Friday morning market in the square was fantastic! Best of all were the hotel staff. Easy to reach any time by phone and SO helpful; we had ebikes delivered and they were so nice to help us with managing drop off and pick up, plus storage. Highly recommend!

Very good location for some days in the hop land

The hotel is very well situated, directly on the Grote Markt in the city center and easily reachable from the train station by foot. The staff was very friendly and helpful, even though they were often not at the front desk, you could find them in the restaurant nearby. The room was equipped with a coffee machine, a fridge and all kinds of appliances in the bathroom, which might be needed. The food at their restaurant is also very good. I would definitively return.

If you are sensitive to noise, this might not be the best location. My room was facing the Grote Markt and had a nice view, but I could hear a lot of the noise going on there. Since I was the off-season and not during the weekend, it was fine. Not sure how it would be later in the week, when they also have their market on the square. Additionally, you can hear all the noises from the staircase as well. The bed itself was comfy, but I would have liked an alternative pillow to chose from, I found the one they had a bit too hard (I did not ask for another, though, it is possible they have options).

A fantastic little hotel with lots of lovely luxurious touches.

This is a newly refurbished lovely boutique hotel. Lovely little touches throughout the hotel and the room and bathroom. The bath was big enough to swim in!

Being British I would have loved a kettle and some breakfast tea but its very common throughout France not to have these items so next time I will be prepared!

It is located in the center of Poperinge, surrounded by supermarkets and restaurants. The area is calm and peaceful, perfect for a relaxing stay. The room was spacious and spotless, with complimentary coffee, tea, and water provided. We also enjoyed a lovely view of the town center. The staff were very friendly and helpful—highly recommended!

Great stay at La Paix

Friendly helpful staff a nice family business. Big bedroom with high quality furnishings, beautiful position in the square. Very good museums and WW1 information on the doorstep.

Nice room but poor service

The room is modern and well-equipped. Nice terrace.

The hotel is understaffed so the only person working there was extremely busy. We were refused to sit to have a snack/dinner in the restaurant of the hotel at 8:20 pm even if there were plenty of seats available. Apparently the chef was too busy and the owner refused us. Even though we said we could wait a little bit and the other restaurants in town were closed. Unbelievable to see a business refusing customers.

A lovely old building, lots of character. Friendly staff and my room was comfortable with a large roof terrace. Breakfast was well worth the money
