About this house rental
Hello! Thank you for considering staying at the Birdnest Family Lake House. My husband, David, and I purchased the home in January 2021. The Birdnest Lake House has had a positive VRBO rental experience since 2016, and we look forward to the privilege of serving the same 5 star customer service as the previous owners.
4 Bedroom/3 Bathroom with Lake View
Lots of room for Social Distancing! The lake is currently open and we are taking reservations.
The Birdnest Lake House is a spacious 4 Bed/3 Bath updated home on beautiful Lake McQueeney. Located on a quiet street with easy access to Interstate 10 and Hwy 46.
Our two story home has 2 bedrooms/1 full bath downstairs with a living area and kitchen. The upstairs has 2 bedrooms/2 full baths and large kitchen, dining and open living areas. The home can sleep 14 comfortably.
The main living space and newly updated kitchen is on the second floor. Entertaining is easy on the large granite island (seating 6) and family style table (seating 8). Relax and watch the big screen TV in the family room on comfortable leather couches or just enjoy the picturesque view of the lake.
The home was remodeled in 2011, and a second kitchen was created on the first floor with an additional dining and seating area. This area has recently been updated with new living area furniture and a dedicated work space area for those who may need to work (or school) remotely. We have upgraded WIFI and extenders for full home coverage.
The home is perfect for multiple families renting or when cooking for large groups. No problem with refrigerator space, we have 2 in addition, we have two wine refrigerators.
Plenty of parking underneath the car port (room for 6 cars). For those bringing a boat or jet skis, we have a fully enclosed boat house with an electric lift, and a kayak for use. Our neighborhood's private boat launch is available for guests as well. We have a large fenced backyard (great for pets) and the lake is just steps away from the backdoor.
There is a spacious dock over the water with table and chairs provided. Not a 'sun seeker'? No problem, our home has a wrap around porch on the 2nd level that provides shade most of day. Great for enjoying your morning coffee or for watching the sun go down! The wrap around porch railing has recently been updated to incorporate safety for children and pets to allow you to peacefully take time to take in the views!
Lots to do at our home whether it be boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, or just laying in the hammock. We are in close proximity to New Braunfels and Gruene, TX for daily excursions or to pick up last minute shopping needs.
NOTE: For smaller groups, we would consider renting out just the lower level (2 bedroom/1 bath) that can sleep up to 10 comfortably. Access to all of the same amenities but no access to upper level of the home. Inquire with the owner for pricing and info on this option.

5. Don't like to grill out? No worries, we have a large spacious fully stocked kitchen, spices included!
6. Got a Boat, or Jet Ski? Bring it! We have space for it. (up to 22' boats)
7. Don't have a boat? No Worries! - You can use our Kayak!
8. Have a pet? Pets are considered with a refundable pet deposit. Let's discuss!
9. Don't know what other entertainment may be in the area? No worries, we're 15 mins from New Braunfels, Tubing, 20 mins from Gruene, TX (Gruene Hall) and 30 mins from San Marcos shopping outlets. + there are wineries, public Golf course and dining available. We'll leave a list for you on the counter.
10. Can't get away from work (or school), or need to bring it with you? No problem, we have high-speed WIFI and plenty of room for you to set up. So, you can get your work done before you go jump in the lake!

Birdnest was fantastic!! The home was clean, comfortable and so so cute! This home has everything you need, you simply just show up. The own is a great communicator and was very quick to respond to any questions we had. The lake is very nice and relaxing! Everyone in our party was pleased with our stay. The beds were very comfortable and the sheets were washed in Tyler Candle co. diva detergent which is my personal favorite - smells so fresh and clean! We would stay here again and even bring the kids, it's definitely kid and adult friendly! Thanks for a great stay!!

This house was absolutely amazing! We had a blast just hanging on the lake and enjoying both the views and everything the house had to offer. Wendy the Host is very responsive and super nice and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

Life got you running in circles? Are you stressed out? Pandemic weary? Then this is your place!We spent an extended weekend here. It was a long overdue mini-vacation with our expanding family and was just what we needed. The Bird Nest is beautiful and feels like home, minus all those pesky projects screaming your name. There is so much to do here! Enjoy the docks for fishing or just sitting and watching boaters go by, or you can take a dip in the water and sit on the floating dock. We enjoyed time around the firepit roasting marshmallows and playing music, and we played many games of ping pong and cornhole. When the weather didn't cooperate, we moved our concert indoors and played board games. We spent a great deal of time on the covered wraparound deck just taking in the beautiful view and sounds of nature. Morning coffee and starting the day from this vantage point was especially relaxing. The large kitchen is well stocked with everything you could need and plenty of room for many helpers. Each bedroom has a white noise device and very comfortable bedding, creating a perfect sleep environment. The house is very spacious and the 2 large living areas providing enough room for everyone to spread out and do their own thing, have multiple group activities or come together as a large group. If you choose to leave and explore the area, there's plenty to do and see. We did venture out to Naegelin's bakery for kolaches and donuts one morning— it's worth the trip!Overall, everything was wonderful. Everyone destressed and relaxed, and enjoyed their time here. Our only regret was that our stay wasn't longer. That's why we will return next year for a full week!Thank you David & Wendy!
