the bathroom was very clean. The AC was nice and cold and a small fridge that kept our water really cold!

we got the river view which was nice but when we opened the curtains, the dust and window sill was full of dust, windows were all dirty as if no one ever opened the windows to enjoy the view? I had to wipe it down because I was grossed out by it. We chose river view with the intent to open curtains and get a nice view. There were tiny ants in the room, on the bed and the floor and the walls. We used the blanket as our bed sheet and slept with our camp gear, which we had planned to anyway. The bed in room 5 was hard so we didn’t get much sleep the first night. On the second night we told the hostess the bed was too hard so she lent us the futon to put on top the bed, which was sweet of her. The futon was a bit softer and definitely more comfortable. We killed a couple small black spiders and mosquitoes. We got bit the first night, not sure by what but we both put on long pants and long sleeve. Wife got bit on leg and buttock too, not sure what happened but was funny. Make sure to shake out your stuff because ants were hiding in my backpack when I got to the next location. The owner is nice and very sweet. Overall, we enjoyed the location and price was cheap but just know it’s far from the center town so you have to always call for grab and there’s not much food in the area.

The rooms were clean. The staff were very helpful and friendly, they even taught my partner to ride a motorbike despite them knowing no English. The air conditioning is really powerful, the hostel also feels secure.

Upon check-in we were told that our premium room (which we paid extra for) had been given to another guest as a ‘free upgrade’because the staff “didn’t think we were coming” - despite the fact we had never given any indication that we weren’t coming. The address given on booking.com is not compatible with Grab so it took over an hour to find the hostel, and it is far out of the city. The receptionist, whilst very nice, did not speak a word of English and we only speak very basic Vietnamese so it was really hard to communicate about the room issue. She had to call the owner and that is how we found out what the problem was. We were put up in a decent room on the first night, lots of geckos but we don’t mind because they kill the mosquitoes. However the hot water didn’t work. On the second day, they said that we would switch rooms with the guest who had been given our premium room. We left for some breakfast, returned, and there was a half-naked man in our room and all of our things were gone. We still had the key to this room of course so entered expecting it to still be “ours”. The staff had moved all of our things which I think was a nice gesture but we’d have certainly preferred to move our personal items ourselves, or be given the new room key and told that our room had been changed whilst we’d been out!! The “premium river view” is not worth it, the window is barred and it’s a view of a shack and a few bushes in front of a muddy brown river.
