Amber Lombok Beach Resort

The location is stunning, the resort itself is as well. We stayed in a pool villa with 2 bedroms with our kids and we absolutely loved everything about our stay: the feeling of being at a secluded beach, the surf lessons just 10min away at a cool surfer beach within the bay, the couple treatment at the spa, the pool villa itself with its privacy in the middle of a resort, the vibe of this very charming resort with beautiful people that don‘t show off but just come here for relaxation and fun, the tours we did, the amazingly nice staff, the fish BBQ, the feeling of living in the ocean when having breakfast. A little pricey but HIGHLY recommended for any stay, as a couple or as a family.

… we loved everything. To be just a little critical: the pool in the pool villa is not huge, but still has its function. The breakfast is great but could be ever better with some more Asian dishes (do not try too much Western stuff, you are better in Asian food - exception: the REALLY REALLY good ‚cheesy burger‘!).

The WhatsApp communication system between guests and different branches of the hotel is not very well coordinated.

We liked the aesthetics and layout of the hotel which is set on a beautiful beach. The pool was nice, although a little deep - you're not a tall person you will struggle to reach the bottom which is tricky when you're holding a small child - there is a ledge for kids which is shallow and ours had fun playing on that part. Breakfast and food was good, nothing to write home about but we enjoyed it enough. Wine list was small but good. Everything was reasonably priced.

Very inattentive staff in every part of the hotel. From check in, to dining, to cleaning, we had to ask for help multiple times for anything. I am not saying the staff were rude, they were always pleasant, but we constantly found ourselves standing or looking around for service, and having to nearly chase people to get a drink, a towel, order food, clean our room even. There was absolutely zero anticipation of needs. This was over a period of 6 days. I never once saw a staff member at the pool for service other than to deliver food then quickly retreat without looking up. Twice when we went out for the day we came back to find our room had still not been serviced in the late afternoon. This hotel has a lot of potential, it gives 'island time' a whole new meaning.
