If you are looking for mountaintop fun or a tranquil cabin stay, Wispy on the Rocks is the one for you! This home mixes modern comforts with all the traditional delights of a cabin stay. The central open-concept layout of the home makes it easy to stay connected with your whole crew. Picture this: you and the kids are whipping up hot chocolate in the kitchen, while your cousins are playing cards at the dining table, with your closest friends watching an old favorite film on the couch. There is even a desk space available for anyone looking to stay in touch with school or work while on vacation! Everyone together and everyone having fun thanks to a home that helps you stay connected. Outside you'll find even more fantastic places to hang out, like the outdoor fireplace and conversation set, bubbling hot tub, and fire pit with comfortable seating. Dog-Friendly Notice: Maximum of two dogs per reservation. A $175/non-refundable fee will be added for each dog. Dogs should be well-behaved, trained, and friendly; dogs with a history of aggression or destruction are not permitted. In order to comply with many of our home's rental insurance policies, breeds listed as most aggressive are banned for all rentals, regardless of individual training and temperament. If you are planning to bring a dog, please reach out to us upon booking to discuss your dogs breed to get final approval from our staff.

Location Highlight: Located on the top of the mountain, the ski slopes of Wisp Resort are just a short drive away, as is the man-made whitewater rafting course on top of the mountain at the Adventure Sports Center International (ASCI). Wisp's championship golf course, Lodestone, is also located on top of the mountain, just a short drive away. For winter skiing, you can park at Wisp's mountaintop lot to begin your day of skiing, just a 2-3 minute drive away!

Absolutely beautiful! Perfect for our family of 10. Floorplan was great. Very clean. Beds are very comfortable. Spent every evening by the outside fireplace and hot tub. The location is perfect.

The house was fine, but in our opinion, significantly overpriced. We thought we were paying for luxury and ease of location but found that we were further away from Wisp than we thought, closer to neighbors than we anticipated and the house was less luxurious than we wanted. There was a significant amount of mouse droppings in the laundry room, inconsistent heating (when the thermostat on the main floor was at 70, a room thermometer we bought read 86 degrees in thr upstairs bedrooms which was far too hot for our children) and the oven took more than 30 minutes to get above 175. There was also not enough cups and silverware for the amount of people the house can hold nor were the pots and pans clean when we arrived. Finally (and in my opinion, most irritating) was that there was no on-site garbage container so if we had a dirty diaper or dog waste, we had to bring it out of the community and to the dumpster. We have stayed in many properties in McHenry and even when communities do not permit garbage collection on site, usually houses provide a bear-safe outdoor holding area so that smelly trash can wait until the daylight/morning to go to the dumpster!All that being said, beds were comfortable, couch was comfortable and the house was mostly clean. I just wish we had spent 3K for the house rather than 5k like our friends did for effectively the same house rental.
