Creekside Hideaway

The photos don't do it justice. This cabin was put together very lovingly. It's a single room with a separate bathroom, but there's plenty of space. The owner has thought of pretty much everything. There is a little bit of space to hang clothes. There are little snacks on the table. There's a nice TV. Little chairs and a table on the porch, more seating down in the garden. I enjoyed the little plums from the tree. The bed was comfortable. I was worried that proximity to the highway would mean lots of traffic noise but no- loudest sound you hear is the sound of rushing water in the river. The neighbour has peacocks and ducks. They make a little bit of noise but they are fun and really cool to look at. Everything in Nevada City is less than 5 minutes walk. I was thrilled with my stay.

We arrived at 1am due to flight delays and cancellations. Both the host and the Vrbo website contact were more than helpful getting us in to our room. The code had timed out and we would have been stuck otherwise. The host was more than understanding and gracious to receive and answer a text at 1am in the morning! Being so close to Nevada City was convenient and fun for a quick walk to town for yummy baked goods at the Communal Cafe and Three Forks and great dinner spots.The sound of Deer Creek was great "white noise" during the day and lulled us to sleep. I thought the nearby highway noise would be a problem, but only on a few occasions did a truck or group of motorcycles bother our retreat.Having a parking spot at the Creakside Hideaway was very convenient. The Victorian decor and furnishings were welcoming. Because of all the foliage immediately around the room we barely needed to use the AC. We plan on being there next year if our plans work out.

This was a cute and clean property and we chose it because it was REALLY close to town; it was really good but not 5-star great. The interior was a bit different than the pictures when we visited, a little more cramped but still comfortable. The grounds near the creek with the bbq and outdoor seating were a little worse for wear. The air conditioner worked pretty well during the heat wave we experienced but the kitchenette sink leaked. The air conditioner along with the soothing creek noise helped drown out the highway which did calm down significantly in the later hours.

It was okay. The biggest advantage of this cabin is the location. If you value being within easy walking distance of beautiful downtown Nevada City and its shops and restaurants, this is a great spot.However, if you're looking for a secluded cabin experience, this is definitely not it. The neighboring properties are very close, and privacy is limited. On the positive side, you can hear the river running nearby, which is very relaxing.Unfortunately, the outdoor patio area shown in the listing was not well maintained during our stay. I had to clean the grill before using it because it had been left dirty by previous guests (I made sure to clean it afterward). The outdoor furniture was also disappointing—there were only two small cushions stored inside, and the patio wasn't particularly comfortable or inviting.One of the things we were most looking forward to was enjoying a summer evening around the fire pit. Sadly, shortly after we started a fire in the provided pit, a neighbor came over to complain about the smoke and asked that we put it out. Not wanting any conflict, we complied, which was disappointing since relaxing by the fire was one of the main reasons we chose this property. I ended up grilling our dinner by the light of my cell phone instead.Lighting was very poor and it was only moderately clean (cobwebs etc) Disappointed. For the price there are better choices.
