I liked how clean and big the house was

The owner never answered our messages, I asked for the Wifi password and they never replied, keep in mind the area around the house isn’t walkable

Nice area, overpriced cottage, underwhelming facilities.

More spacious than anticipated. Good location. Easy to find with the instructions provided.

Very dated interior. Not cleaned to an acceptable standard. Cobwebs & dust throughout the house. Bathrooms are grubby & mouldy, paint flaking, & toilets were difficult to flush. Kitchen also quite dirty, lack of washing up scourer (which explains dirty glassware on arrival). No chain on sink plug - very awkward to pull out. Expected better, particularly for the price. I’d messaged ahead of arrival to ask a question which was never answered, also.

A peaceful and scenic stay in a quiet, nature-filled setting.

We loved the property — it’s in a beautiful, quiet location surrounded by trees and birds. The views are stunning, and it’s just a short walk to the lake. The kitchen is spacious and well-equipped, and the living room is perfect for relaxing with a movie after a long hike. I also really appreciated that the house has two bathrooms and an additional toilet, which made things more convenient. We will definitely will back again.

The mattresses were not very comfortable, and each bathroom only had a single roll of toilet paper, which wasn't ideal for a family of six. I was also disappointed that the house did not have the “lake view” shown in the pictures — it was not what I expected.

Good location, property is in need of maintenance as lots of loose fittings

Location good for a short drive into Ambleside or Bowness, main bedroom, living room and kitchen have lots or space

No instructions for wifi had to make a phone call to get password No instructions what to do with linen when leaving Bits and pieces loose like curtain railings, window handles, had to call mainternance as shower cradle for shampoos was so loose it would have fallen out of the wall Freeezer door wouldn't close properly as frosted over Privacy an issue as neighboring properites are so close, white privacy curtains should be used for windows and front door. Mattresses did not fit bed frames, were all smaller.

Good location, between Anblesside and Winderemere. Lakes very close. property was clean, heating, warm water worked fine. parking for two cars front of cottage. Overall very good

Had to call Sykes cottages for the Wi-Fi password. Very Bad response time 1 day passed no response from whats app. called them following day they answered after 30mins of waiting after which they gave me the Wifi-password. Suggestion. have the Wifi password displayed on the wall. Sykes Cottages need to improve response time.

Terrible

The roof didn’t leak 🤷🏻‍♂️

When we arrived, the oven was sat in the middle of the kitchen, not plugged in. This was not good as we’d spent a lot of money on food to cook, and so after a long day of travel we were gutted to see we would have to go out to eat, costing us a lot of money. When we got back from the restaurant we noticed that the boiler was not working, meaning we had to endure freezing cold showers. We had the same issue in the morning, with the freezing showers and the lack of cooking equipment. This meant we had to again get a taxi into town and pay for breakfast, rather than cook the food we’d already bought. The issue was finally solved at 5pm the next day, over 24 hours since we raised the problem. We were not offered any compensation. After my stay I’ve tried to contact both the property and booking.com on the issue, and they have both been extremely unhelpful, not offering any compensation for the money that we spent on food that went to waste, or on the hundreds it cost us as a group (6 people) to get taxis into town and pay for dinner. DO NOT STAY HERE

Lovely position, very peaceful, perfect for a long weekend.

Parking, large lounge, outside seating area. Comfy sofas. Massive master bedroom

Showers were boiling and very sensitive to any other water being used. En suite had big flakes of paint coming off the ceiling.

Amazing place and experience.

Its an amazing property and very good for a family holiday. I would recommend this anyone. Beautiful place to live. However the staff response time is not good. I had some issues with the freezer however the response was not satisfactory.

A great property let down by a few minor issues

Well appointed, spacious, good location

A number of niggles let it down. The smoke alarms expired in 2012. Two of them required new batteries and bleeped every minute until we dissbled them. No small pans for cooking, no chopping board, kitchen scales required a new battery. Lack of blinds in kitchen. Defective window in bathroom. A pile of mail by the door and no heating when we arrived. No welcome pack, not even a bit of milk or tea bags.

The beds need fixed , on two of the beds the slats had been poorly repaired with tape . I had to fix one myself so my daughter could use the bed.

Quiet and bus stop right at the end of the driveway

Where does one start…. All reviews read spoke of poor beds and maintenance not up tp. Scratch. This was indeed the case. Shocking mattresses….poly cotton bedding and Staines duvet inners. We ended up putting two mattresses on top of each other and that helped…after both spending a night on the sofas. No instructions anywhere…especially for heating controls. Upstairs mani bedroom toilet makes a terrible noise that needs attention. Light fixture in main bedroom is broken and has been for ages…reviews refer to it. Not all Kitchen lights working. No spare toilet paper and no sachet for washing machine. 3 empty boxes though!! Mould on grouting in showers…toilets needed a good scrub with the brush…so easy to do. The property manager needs to be taken to task to fix these as they are not new comments. We enjoyed the walks nearby but more effort needs to be done to attend to the comments above.

Fantastic location, right beside Brockhole and the ferry around Windermere. 3 very good sized double rooms and comfortable living spaces. The owners have tried to think of everything with little tables for kids, cots and safety gates.

The perfect stay in an ideal location!

The ideal location - close to town and windermere lake. Very impressed with the house itself - very spacious with really good facilities!

Not much to fault! The en-suite door in the master bedroom was quite hard to open from the inside.

Bottom oven didn’t work had to use top oven only cooking for 6 people wasn’t except-able it was also dirty You could feel bed springs in your back 4 of us slept on the sofas downstairs Flooring was dirty sides dusty covers on the sofa smelt of mould We only stayed 2 nights of of the 3 booked

Excellent location. Plenty of room in the property and very clean.

It’s a bit dated and needs a lick of paint. put the heating on but the temperature didn’t rise above 17 degrees as the radiators must have been capped.
