A very enjoyable stay.
This historic house is in an excellent location. The house itself is very well furnished and equipped. This is a National Trust of Scotland property which stands next to the very interesting Hugh Miller museum. The staff there, who also have oversight of Paye House, were very helpful and friendly. (The central heating system was not functioning, but the NTS staff ensured that we had a number of electric heaters, and we suffered no discomfort.) Cromarty is a lovely and very interesting town.
Communications from the letting agents, Sykes Cottages, were very poor. We posed a question about the house but never received a reply. Worse, we were not told that the central heating was not functioning.

Thouroughly recommended. Cromarty is a beautiful relaxing town and Paye Cottage is a wonderful historic home.
Great size, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed, dog friendly garden and superb location. A lovely homely cottage.
TV is too small for the living room and the internet speed and wi-fi coverage in the house isn’t great.

Loved it. Kitchen roll, salt and pepper would have been good as the milk was a really good thing to find in the fridge, thank you. Couldn’t make phone calls as signal so bad. Had to leave property to make calls.

Beautiful location, quirky property.
A non-negotiable check in time of 5pm we thought was unreasonable in comparison to other self catering properties. Property was chilly on arrival as the oil fired Rayburn had been switched off. Instructions regarding the heating had no mention of the Rayburn - only the thermostat controls but we finally figured it out from a troubleshooting page at the back of the guest pack. This could be made clearer to guests not familiar with this type of heating system.
