Für ein verlängertes Familienwochenende mit Kinder und Enkeln hatten wir das für uns ideale Quartier gefunden: ausreichend Platz im und und um das Haus herum. Gemeinsame Mahlzeiten am großen Tisch, gute Küchenausstattung, getrennte Schlafzimmer, Pavillon im Garten, Grill, große Wiese zum (Ball-) Spielen. Dazu nette und kinderfreundliche Vermieter. Vielen Dank!

Ons verblijf in dit huis in Benneckenstein was fantastisch. Het huis (wat de volledige eerste verdieping van het huis van de eigenaar beslaat, en dat erg ruim is voor een gezin met 3 kinderen) is eenvoudig maar gezellig ingericht. De keuken is zeer compleet, ideaal. Prima badkamer met bad, en twee woonkamers (1 met eettafel, 1 met een grote zitbank). Rond het huis is een grote tuin, waar de kinderen konden spelen (in ons geval; sleeën en sneeuwpoppen maken). De eigenaar was bijzonder aardig en behulpzaam. Toen wij pech met onze auto hadden hielp hij ons met het vinden van een garage. Toen er sneeuw viel, leende hij ons een paar sleeën. Hij had goede tips, en voor de liefhebber: hij weet veel te vertellen over de geschiedenis van Benneckenstein en omgeving (bijvoorbeeld over het feit dat de Muur dwars door het dorp liep). Benneckenstein is een rustig dorp in vergelijking met Braunlage (dat veel toeristischer is). Wij vonden dat prettig, tegelijk zijn er wel diverse voorzieningen, zoals een prima supermarkt (3 minuten lopen vanaf het huis), een paar restaurants, etc. De sfeer in het dorp is gemoedelijk, vrijwel iedereen die je tegenkomt is vriendelijk. Voor in de winter: Zo'n 4 km van Benneckenstein is een kleine piste (HohegeiS), Braunlage is iets verder (15km) waar ook een leuke ijsbaan is. In het dorp zelf is er geen piste, wel hebben wij ons erg vermaakt bij een oude skischans, waar nog een baan is waar je met een slee flinke vaart kunt maken. Tip: loop van Benneckenstein naar Braunlage, een mooie route dwars door het bos, zeker als er sneeuw ligt en de zon schijnt prachtig! Doordat wij autopech hadden, hebben we weinig uitstapjes kunnen maken. We komen graag nog een keer terug voor de historische plaatsen in de buurt, het zwembad en de mooie omgeving.
