Architect house in Almocageme/Colares above the Adraga beach

We had very nice stay in outskirts of the village, with a pleasant view of the ocean. We really appreciated the host Rolf valuable tips on what to see and where to eat in the surroundings, don’t miss the lovely beach Praia do Adraga. The house was very clean and suited us well, as others have mentioned in the reviews the stairs in the house are not suited for very young children and elderly (or with walking difficulties).

When I booked this house, I was looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy the sunshine but not too far away from places to visit. And that is exactly what we got. The house is very much as it is shown in the pictures and we greatly enjoyed sitting out in the garden and enjoying the view. The restaurants and shops in the local village are easily within walking distance and that too was very relaxing. We did visit one or two of the Sintra sites. However, due to wildfires a lot of these were closed to most of our stay. Nonetheless, we very much enjoyed the places that we saw. The local beaches were lovely, although we are not sunbathers, but we did enjoy the walks down to the sea. Rolf and Marie Helena were excellent hosts, both before the holiday and during our stay, and we highly recommend both them and this property.

Angenehmes Wohnen in offenem Haus über mehrere Etagen mit Blick aufs Meer. Für sehr alte und sehr junge Menschen wegen der steilen Treppen eher nicht geeignet. Die Ausstattung ist gut (Küche, Betten, Möblierung, Terasse); ein anfängliches Problemchen mit WLAN wurde von den Vermietern sofort geregelt. Das Dorf mit seinen engen Gassen ist nett und bietet in direkter Nachbarschaft u.a. ein sehr gutes Restaurant und einen kleinen, aber gut sortierten Supermarkt (sogar mit etlichen Bio- und Vegan-Produkten). Der "Haus"-Strand ist ein Eckchen zu laufen, aber auch sehr pittoresk. Zum Schwimmen und Surfen jedoch weniger geeignet, da dort oft gefährliche Strömungen auftreten und seitlich steile Felsen den Sandstrand begrenzen. Mit dem Auto (das ohnehin unabdingbar ist) gelangt man rasch an größere und zum Surfen besser geeignete Strände in der Umgebung. Vormittags ist es schon mal recht diesig, dafür ist die Gegend aber sehr grün. Zum Cabo da Roca ist es nicht weit, Sintra und Umgebung bieten allerhand architektonische Sehenswürdigkeiten, Cascais mit seinen vielen Sonnenstunden ist schnell erreicht, wie auch Lissabon (mit Auto oder per Bahn von Cascais). Wir hatten einen erholsamen und aktiven Urlaub.
