Hawker Bed and Breakfast

Breakfast facilities were very much appreciated. Whole town was in darkness. Mine host suggested that someone must have put some barb wire in the town`s fuse box. Priceless country humor. The pub was in darkness and people, locals and visitors, were drinking by candlelight. An excellent pub takeaway seafood evening meal prepared under difficult circumstances was most enjoyable. Memorable stay, particularly the email from the owner on leaving congratulating us on how clean we left the B&B so clean.

Perhaps a bit cheaper would be good. But I understand though, as I know the whole country is being badly mismanaged financially. What a disappointment it was to travel on and stay at Rawnsley Park. Admire their entrepreneurial spirit. But. Stayed there about 30 years ago, not again. 50% dearer tariff than Hawker, next to nothing in the fridge (2 very small milk containers - I don't think they make them any smaller. Really felt that was greatly underdone after Hawker.). Felt the evening meal was very expensive. Hadn't actually looked up the location of Sturt Desert Pea area. Just thought that they would be everywhere. None to be seen even 5ks north of Blinman. We saw our first Desert Pea outside Jeff Morgan`s Wilpena Panorama in Hawker. Truly superb and a very easy highlight of a week away.

The host has sourdough bread cooking for us on arrival in a bread machine and we had basin and eggs and juice was provided in day one Great coffee machine and the house was big and cosy

Nigel the host met us and greeted us in a very friendly manner. The house, although old, was well appointed and adequate for the four of us. Even though the weather was foul and restricted what we could do, we enjoyed our stay.

Didn't like we had to walk through our bedroom to get to the kitchen and bathroom.
