Villa Flora Calheta Sunset & Ocean Views

The house is set on a stunning piece of land with breathtaking, million-dollar views of the Atlantic Ocean. The heated pool, outdoor shower combined with the beautifully maintained garden, creates a truly idyllic setting. It was incredibly peaceful and quiet during our stay (although we were fortunate that the neighboring house was unoccupied). The location is also ideal for exploring the island, with all major attractions and destinations within easy reach, making it a perfect base for day trips in every direction. The clear night skies offered spectacular stargazing, and having breakfast on the terrace while watching whales offshore was an unforgettable experience-definitely worth bringing binoculars. João was an excellent host, always responsive and helpful, whether we had a question about the coffee machine or requested a late check-out. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

The house shows some signs of wear and tear and could benefit from a little more maintenance, although nothing significantly affected our stay. As other guests have noted, the air conditioning was somewhat difficult to figure out - it worked well in some rooms but not in others, and we were unable to find any operating instructions. The Wi-Fi connection was somewhat inconsistent but generally sufficient for basic use. The access road to the property is steep and narrow in places, so drivers should be prepared for a bit of an adventure. That said, the spectacular setting and views make the journey well worth it. Our main concern was the presence of the outdoor security cameras. While we completely understand the need for cameras covering the driveway and parking area, we felt uncomfortable with the camera positioned toward the garden, pool, and outdoor shower area. As guests who value privacy, we would have appreciated more clarity regarding the purpose, coverage, and operation of these cameras.

The accommodation is quite remote. A taxi, local or Bolt, is easily arranged though and not expensive.

Das Haus ist so schön. Wenn man die Bilder auf Booking sieht, ist es schon fantastisch. Sieht man es in echt, ist man kurz sprachlos. Unverbauter Blick aufs Meer. Jede Mahlzeit draußen wird zum Highlight. Wir waren nur zu zweit, aber es gibt 3 Schlafräume, sodass man auch als Familie Platz hat. Es war alles da, was das Herz begehrt. Auch gibt es einen Waschraum mit 2 Waschmaschinen. Die Pooltage waren mehr als schön. Wir wollen definitiv wieder kommen.

Wir waren das zweite Mal in der Location. Eine sehr schöne Anlage in herausragender Lage. Die Kommunikation mit dem Besitzer war sehr entgegenkommend und freundlich per whats app möglich. Persönlich gab es keinen Kontakt.

Gleichzeit bemerkte man, dass die Pflege etwas abgenommen hat. Ausstattungsgegenstände waren verschlissen. Auf einer Terrasse wurden defekte Gartenmöbel gelagert. Wir hoffen, dass die Anlage in ihrer tollen Lage künftig wieder mehr Aufmerksamkeit durch den Besitzer erhält. Diese gut gemeinte Kritik soll die beeindruckende Lage und Ausstattung der Anlage nicht schmälern. Der Zahn der Zeit nagt an allem. Umso wichtiger ist es, fortlaufend zu investieren in die Pflege - wie wir zuhause auch 😉
