Great place for a stopover on the Moncenisio route

Perfect stop between Italy and France over the old Moncenisio pass. Modane was largely closed at this time of year but there is an excellent pizza restaurant, Pulcinella, 10 minutes walk from the apartment. The apartments are huge. One of them doesn't have a view of the river, instead you get a nice view of the mountains on the other side of the valley. Comfortable and well equipped, and open in the off season (not much is), I will definitely be coming back as soon as I can. The host is very friendly and accommodating.

Clean & tidy but very basic

No power points in bedroom & minimal in unit to charge appliances. No little niceties, for example tea bags- a must for a weary traveler. Had to turn fridge on so could not put cold items in until it was chilled.

The apartment is promising but still needs a lot of work and improvement. The biggest problem is the terrible noise from the street and the railway line that wakes you up at night. We slept with earplugs. Due to the fact that it is an old building, the noise spread around the building - the owner pointed out that he could hear our children who were really quiet. There are no wardrobes for longer stays. There are few kitchen utensils in the kitchen and they are of poor quality (e.g. a frying pan with a falling off handle). The city of Modane is unattractive, the bars scare away and the restaurants are poor. However, the location is a big plus - within 15 minutes by car you can reach several ski stations, including Orelle-Val Thorens (only by car because there are no Ski buses). So it's a good location for someone who only focuses on skiing (but probably without small children). Plus, the price is quite attractive.

A nice little place to stay near the station but beware of stair access to apartments.

It was quite clean although small issues for improvement. The price was very good for a one-night stay. Beds were clean and comfortable although additional pillows would be much appreciated.

First of all we were emailed details of how to get the keys, but I didn't get the email in time for our arrival. Two men who were also waiting outside the property had the same problem. The apartments are up at least one flight of stairs, we wouldn't have booked had we known - we're in our 70s and had to drag our suitcases upstairs which was very difficult for us. The stair access should be made clear on the property description. The kitchen sink plug was stuck in the sink, I had to prise it out with a (dirty) knife found in the cutlery tray. Under the plug it was filled with stinking goo which I had to remove. At least one bulb didn't work (single bedroom). LIttle things which would be very simple to fix.

Rude host

Big comfortable apartment

The host was rude at the end. It says both in the site and the instructions in the apartment that check out is at 12, but already at 11:20 he came and asked us to leave for no reason! Before that in the morning also we heard sometimes the door open. Never came across a host that rude.

lots of space, super clean and comfortable. good kitchen facilities. loved the rushing sound of the river (it is quite loud but we liked it)

A fantastic stop over on the way to Italy

Fab location. Lovely hosts to meet us. It was a last minute book and we arrived 30 mins later. Everything was smooth and appartement was ready for us. River view with balcony on floor above is just incredible.

La situation : au bord de la rivière, alors que la rivière se trouve derrière et que l'appartement donne sur la route, fort fréquentée. Les lits sont inconfortables. Peu de disposition pour cuisiner : une seule petite taque électrique, non spécifié dans la description. Mauvaise odeur à l'entrée dans l'appartement.

Le logement était froid et difficile à chauffer. 14 degré à notre arrivée à 17h30 et seulement 18° à 20h avec radiateur à fond. Idem pour l'eau chaude. Je suis aller me coucher tôt !

Ein-Zimmer-Appartment. Alles war sehr sauber und ordentlich. Zentrale Lage in Mondane. Sehr netter und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber! Gutes Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!

Ich hatte ein Zimmer zur Straßenseite (Hauptstraße) und insofern war die Nachtruhe, besonders in den frühen Morgenstunden, beeinträchtigt. - Die Zimmer nach hinten raus sind da sicherlich ruhiger.

Accueil par une personne non-francophone. Difficile si vous ne parlez pas anglais. Emplacement annoncé pas correct car face à la rue et non pas côté rivière. Mobilier vétuste. Pas de petit-déjeuner.

Pas cher mais pas ouf. La prochaine fois j’irai 15kms plus loin…

Proche de la frontière italienne (tunnel du frejus à 1km). En allant au tunnel, prendre le temps de visiter la maison penchée sur la gauche en montant, lieu assez rigolo pour le cerveau qui perd ses repères….

L appartement est proche de la voie ferrée, donc si vous ouvrez les fenêtres ça devient super bruyant. De plus, il est situé au bord d’une route où il y a pas mal de circulation. Contrairement au titre, l’appartement n’est pas au bord de la rivière mais à l’opposé. Sur la rue, une boîte a clé, l’hôte vous dit en anglais de regarder le mail qui est sur Booking.com avec toutes les instructions. Les lits sont assez confortables. Clim en panne. Modane est une ville morte où il est dur de trouver un restaurant pour manger. Nous avons été mangé à termignon (domaine skiable), la nous avons très bien mangé dans un resto nommé le trappeur que je recommande (accueil et serveuse très agréable)

accès facile - parking dans la rue

Coin toilette douche et lavabo minuscules - pas de volets à la fenêtre et ni de rideau occultant donc réveillé avec le jour et le bruit de la rue - La TV n'est pas raccordée au satellite ou à l'antenne râteau pas de câble d'antenne. C'est dommage tous ça car le concierge a l'air très gentil et serviable mais ne parle pas le français mais anglais.
