"A wonderful property, just a pleasant 20-minute walk from the town centre. With Morrisons right around the corner, it was very convenient for stocking up on essentials. The house itself is beautiful ..."

Lovely and clean. Quirky. Short walk into town
Hard to get around the kitchen as the table was so large. Loved everything else about the property

Mr Darcy's Residence is a quirky, beautiful Georgian listed building spread over four floors (bit confusing til you get your bearings!). I loved that there are no TVs in the bedrooms. All the rooms are beautifully decorated, with nice furnishings; some are huge! Three are en suite, the others share two bathrooms. The kitchen is well stocked with plenty of plates, glasses, cutlery for large parties (there were only 5 of us) plus cooking utensils if you're inclined to cook. Tea, coffee (& cafetiere) & fresh milk are provided, which is a nice touch. The beds were really good - we all slept well (although there's quite a lot of external noise as it's just off the main road into Bath). The property is within easy walking distance of all the centre of Bath (20 mins). The staff were very friendly & helpful throughout the booking process & during our stay. We did the Mayor's (free) walking tour of Bath, which was excellent & a great introduction to the history of Bath; had lunch at The Bathwick Boatman (can't recommend highly enough - delicious, freshly cooked food, lovely service & really good value); and finished the day in the Thermae Spa. We arranged a delivery for our evening meal from Mantra Progressive Indian - best Indian meal I've had for a long time, absolutely delicious & not your usual range of options
There is no car parking at the property. The nearest long stay car park is 20 mins walk away & the prices are high! I paid £37 for 1.5 days. Given there are 7 bedrooms & only 6 planning to stay (5 in the end), we were surprised to find that 2 of the 3 en suite rooms were locked & beds made up in only 4 of the rooms. No-one wants to share if they don't have to! I called Bath Luxury Rentals & we sorted out a solution (skeleton key to unlock bedrooms & moving bedding from one room to another) - however, a bit of logical thinking before our arrival would have been better. We didn't use the sitting room as it's in the basement nor did we use the third en suite as it had no windows/natural light & smelt musty.

There was plenty of space. It was a good location, and we were able to walk into the centre of Bath. I was allowed my dog there, which made the holiday much nicer.
The kitchen was a little hard to get around because there was a large table fixed to the floor, and we had to squeeze past each other and the table to get from the cooker to the fridge and so on.

The one and only thing I liked was that the beds were comfortable. The other beds my guest stayed in were comfortable. that's about it and it was clean. I will give it that
Very poorly advertised. some of us older women need to know that there are massive amounts of stairs. my suitcase lived on the first level the entire time as did my other guests suitcase because we couldn't get them up the stairs. and the other thing about the house is that it is tilting leaning all the stairs go one way the bedrooms are falling in on themselves. the dressers are all leaning. I was actually fearing from my life at one point in the morning in bed alone when the floors started creaking and no one was walking, the floor still felt like it was about to fall. I think you need to let people know that it is not for your normal guests. if you're 10 bachelorettes and want to party you might like it...I will say it was very clean and the beds were comfy but I definitely won't be coming back which is a shame but never again. felt like a house of haunted horror for me a little bit. please note that the manager minnie was amazing, lovely, wonderful very receptive did her job really well.10 stars for her !!no issues with management at all. but I think you need to advertise a little bit better it's a very unusual set up and not super comfortable
