My Own Paradise Resort Bonaire

The location was very convenient. Staff were lovely and SUPER responsive to any complaints/requests. Any time I asked for anything my request was handled very quickly. The pool area is very nice and there are lots of spaces to hang out. The A/C works great. The space itself was basic but cute, and all the appliances worked. I feel bad about all the things I am about to complain about because the staff were SO sweet- I know if we had brought up our issues they would have remedied whatever they could have… we had originally booked another place but changed our reservation to My Own Paradise because of an undisclosed additional fee (at the other place) that would have cost us an additional $175. In the long run I still feel it was worth it to save the money by coming to My Own Paradise so I recommend it for people who would rather save money on accommodation so they can spend it elsewhere.

The mosquitoes were so bad. It was strange because there were no mosquitos outside in the pool area but they were so many in the kitchen/living space and outside on our porch. The door to the outside doesn’t have a screen and the cracks are so big there is no way to keep them out. Actually there were loads in the bathroom as well and the floor was always wet near the toilet so maybe they were breeding there… The floor was filthy. I had to wash my feet before bedtime so I wouldn’t stain the sheets. Granted, I could have asked for a mop or for someone to clean the floor but I just reframed my expectations and looked at it as if I was walking on a dirt floor. But really- it obviously had not been mopped before we arrived, or probably anytime in months. I booked a unit with two queen beds and was given one with one queen and two singles. Not worth complaining about since there were only 3 of us but it would have been nice to have the unit I booked. Not necessarily something I “didn’t like” but just for other guests to be aware of… the property seems to be primarily long term rental space for local people as opposed to short term rentals for other tourists. Lastly, there is a dog across the street that barks nearly incessantly. It didn’t bother me all that much but people who have difficulty sleeping might want to choose a different location.

I used to live on Bonaire, and the apartment reminded me of many homes and villas that I have stayed in. It is nothing extravagant, which is what I like, and the price is very affordable. I would stay there again and again!

The location.

The parking spaces was not enoug. The room itself need maintanance asap. The rooms needed more lights. Some was broken. The doors need some lubrication. The kitchen sink need some faucet fixing. There was no room cleaning service. No towels changing(if i didn't ask) the room was left not fully cleaned and was not totaly fixed before we arrived. The toilet bowl was not enough tightend. Bathroom window was partialy broken so couldn't open full.
