Tribe Yala - Luxury Camping

Wow what an experience … on-top of being so unique the accomodation was nice, clean and relaxing. The staff were incredible really going out of their way to make sure that we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. We booked a safari through the hotel with the amazing guide Thushan and he was so knowledgeable and the day was so special. Enjoyed a lovely meals Dinush. We couldn’t have asked for a better way to experience Yala.

It was absolutely wonderful. Tent spacious and pretty, private pool perfect after a long day of safari. Food very good. People wonderful. I wish I had more time there!

Tribe Yala exceeded our expectations, although prices are a little high compared to other properties in Sri Lanka you definitely get a wow factor and the tented jungle safari experience with location (complete with plung pool ... what's not to love!) is what you are paying for. From our entire 2 weeks in Sri Lanka this was way far the most expensive place we stayed but you save so much in other areas of the country it was definitely worth splashing out a little more on a couple of nights here. We arrived to be told we were the only guests for the first night and so they arranged a private 'jungle' dining experience for us, which was fabulous. The tented accommodation is special and the staff were always helpful and attentive at all times. Our full day Safari was amazing and we saw everything, 2 leopard, so many elephants & their calfs, a sloth bear and so many other birds and animals. Both the guide and driver were exceptional . Dinner and breakfast were very good too with the overall experience being something special. Breakfast when not on Safari is served up on a platform in the trees with views for miles - definitely one we will not forget!

The breakfast spot was stunning, we loved sitting up high and looking at the view. Dinners were equally delicious and another beautiful setting. We enjoyed the fun of sleeping under canvas, and the 'wild' bathroom with little frogs visiting. The staff were really lovely, helpful, friendly and a joy to talk to.

The small pool with our tent sadly irritated all of our skin so we couldn't use it. The local dogs that wouldn't leave the outside of our tent was a shame as our daughters were quite afraid of them and it took up residence on our outdoor furniture, which meant we couldn't sit outside. Unfortunately, the beds were really quite uncomfortable.
