We absolutely loved our stay at the Salthouse Hotel and couldn’t fault it overall. We visited as a group of friends and stayed in one of the lodges, which was extremely well equipped and perfect for a relaxing getaway. Having our own hot tub was a real treat and added to the luxury of the experience.
We dined in the restaurant during our stay and the food was fantastic from start to finish. We also spent time in the bar enjoying cocktails, which were genuinely some of the best I’ve ever had. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, with a gorgeous, stylish interior that really adds to the atmosphere.
All of the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and welcoming throughout our stay. The views overlooking Ballycastle beach and beyond are absolutely stunning and really make the location special.
A lovely festive touch was receiving mince pies and mulled wine on arrival, which made our Christmas night away feel extra special and thoughtful.
The only possible negative we could find was that the outdoor hot tub at the lodge isn’t sheltered. As we stayed in December, it was quite windy and cold, so some form of cover would be a great addition. That said, this didn’t take away from what was an amazing stay overall.
We would absolutely return and highly recommend the Salthouse Hotel for a relaxing and
The hot tub area at our lodge wasn’t sheltered so very cold and blustery in December

Excellent standard of accommodation with exceptional views. Staff were friendly and efficient. Excellent food.
10am check out is too early! An extra charge of £30 for 11am check out!

The view was lovely. The kitchen had everything you’d need for a self catering holiday
The open plan master bedroom was not great for sleeping in because there was no bedroom door. It proved very noisy. I think for noise reduction and privacy it would be better if it was studded out and a door put on. Also the quality of the furniture is not as good as the hotel or the terrace accommodation.

Location was fantastic ,,loved looking at the ducks on the pond . Accommodation was superb ,good shower ,brilliantly clean house .It was a good base to explore the area .
,I loved the views
Would have appreciated a separate Washing Machine
& Dryer ,as impossible to dry clothes in a reasonable time and using lots of electricity.
We would have liked a information book on how to operate the washer /dryer and the TV and other information related on the house and local area . This was not on the QR Code .
Would have liked to see washing up liquid provided and a welcome pack as is provided in some . other self catering

The Lodge had everything you would need and was immaculate. The view from the property was amazing. Very comfortable and stylish.
Nothing I loved staying there

OK, so we had no glass wine glasses - only 4 plastic outdoor ones, and no glass high ball glasses. There were six of us staying at the property. Also, no tea towels for drying - which we needed - see later. Having owned a holiday let, i found the lack of crockery - should be two sets per household - lacking. It meant everything had to be washed immediately and thereein was another problem as the dishwasher didnt work - this was reported. Otherwise, a fantastic property with amazing views!

Lodge was beautiful, clean and well equipped. Fantastic views. Hotel restaurant was exceptional - staff and food.
Not enough towels - need two per person - one for hair, one for body. People in upstairs room found it very noisy during the night when others were using the downstairs bathroom due to having no door on upstairs room. It rained but if hot tub was pushed closer to the lodge it would have been more sheltered and we could have used it more.

Location views hot tub spacious living area
A few things were not working or missing
Powers points in difficult locations.
No lid to kitchen bin. One of toilets had no button on cistern. Broken lamp not quite enough crockery for the amount of people staying. No real glassware. Understand about plastic around the hot tub but in the actual house it would have been nice to have glasses.

Beautiful location. Staff very helpful
We arrived during storm and discovered it was a distance to the restaurant from the lodge to restaurant with no transport available. We were there for 4 hrs without heat and a number of lights were not working.

stunning views, friendly and helpful staff, fabulous food, gorgeous spa. the private hot tub in the lodge was really lovely.
3pm check in was very late and 10am check out time far too early to fully enjoy the hotel and lodge.
The lodge was well equipped but for the price we would expect better tea and coffee facilities ( cheap sachets) or a coffee machine. There was no milk or bottled water provided. A welcome pack with orange juice, water, milk and snacks would have made the experience much better.

Lovely accommodation, lodges were clean, roomy, clean, comfortable enough.
All beds were two singles put together, no doubles.
Customer service appalling…
Staff refused to give us a second key so we had to leave door unlocked while half of our party were at a wedding. Leaving small children in the lodge with front door unlocked until early hours.
Despite there being menus and room service information in the rooms, there’s no room service to the lodges. Reception very unhelpful when I was trying to get my very hungry toddler dinner after a delayed flight meant we arrived late. Was told only option was to go to the restaurant which we did at 9pm. Toddlers food came very quickly but the rest of us waited 45 minutes for our meals - we were forgotten about.
Reception never answered the phone. Called one evening to request a late check out, told by the guy it was fine, just to be called the next morning with 15 minutes notice to say they’d charge us £30 per every hour we were late.
Asked multiple times with help calling taxis to be told repeatedly ‘we don’t do that.’ Receptionist in check out incredibly rude and defensive when we tried to explain our disappointment.
Extortionate amount of money to pay for this property, our expectations of the place were high, with customer service to match. Sadly the staff really let it down.

Superb location with breath-taking views of Rathlin Island, Scotland and the Atlantic ocean. The hotel facilities are first-class. The staff were very friendly, polite and unfailingly helpful. First rate experience.

Breakfast was good. Location was excellent.
Few issues in property. Not enough plates or cutlery. Trip for heating kept going off. Outside light didn’t work & could have resulted in an accident going in & out to hot tub.

We stayed in a self catering lodge - view, cleanliness, accommodation were first class.
We ate dinner in the restaurant & it was all delicious.
Early check out - have to check out at 10, which is too early

The lodge was extremely comfortable but is up a quite long winding gravel road. Walking to and from the hotel would be very difficult for some elderly or disabled guests.
The lodge needs to have a better range of cooking utensils for those who are self catering. A frying pan and a range of saucepans would have been useful.
