AJ Residence - A Member of The Luxury Stay Group

I had a very comfortable stay at AJ residence. In fact at the end of my trip I had another night in KK and decided to stay here again. The entrance to the hotel is very unassuming but after you enter the premises it is completely different. The rooms are warm, welcoming and modern. The staff are fantastic. They were in communication with me from before I even checked in and were ready to help me check in when I arrived, even having the air conditioner turned on in the room in preparation. The room itself has everything you need, from a range of toiletries, to different charging cables and even a diffuser for the hairdryer! The location is also fantastic - 10 min from the airport, loads of good restaurants within walking distance.

Everything was great. I'd simply like to point out that this accommodation is perfect for solo travellers and couples might find it a bit cramped depending on the type of room you get. There might also be some noise from the street or the neighbours but they provide earplugs so it was fine.

We loved our stay here and cannot recommend it enough. The room is a good size, with a comfortable bed and a separate shower and toilet. The shower was good, with very good water pressure and nice and hot. Shampoo and body wash are provided in small bottles but there are plenty of repleshiments in the shared hallway. Here an umbrella, iron and ironing board can also be found. A kettle and fridge are also in the room. The room was very clean and modern and we were never woken from outside noise, despite our room facing the street. Staff were amazing, they would reply in the same minute over WhatsApp and helped with suggestions for car rental and laundry. They also assisted with luggage on check in. The WiFi was excellent and the air con was great and not too loud either. The property is a short 10 minute walk from the waterfront, where the sunsets are amazing! We cannot recommend this property enough, and wouldn’t hestiate to stay again if we ever found ourselves back in Kota Kinabalu.

Clean room which did the job, good location (walking distance to the waterfront), good shower pressure and hot

Very small room and thin walls (like a caravan). There were metal hangers knocking off the wall and each other constantly which stopped us from sleeping. The hosts cared about this and said they had ordered an alternative hanger for future. There were also a lot of steps to climb up to get to the property which would be difficult with luggage. They offered to help us but it was a small lady who came and I felt bad getting her to carry 25kg huge case up the stairs.
