MASKANI Villa

A fabulous, spacious villa - more than big enough for 5 adults. All four bedrooms are air conditioned and each one is big (2 of the 3 that are upstairs are huge!). The three full bathrooms are clean and modern with efficient and hot showers. The downstairs toilet is very useful! The patio/pool/garden area is great; plenty of shade from trees and canopies. The pool is very clean and well looked after. And the indoor lounge and kitchen are comfortable and spacious. Carin the housekeeper and Athman the night security guy - one of whom is on-site all the time - were friendly and helpful, keeping the villa and outside areas spotless. The villa organised our pick up from Ukunda airport so our arrival was very straightforward. The villa is within easy reach of the beach and great restaurants by taxi - a trip being less than approx. £2. It’s possible to walk to Carrefour but very hot so worth using a TukTuk which can be ordered on Bolt or Uber.

There are only a couple of minor things, both of which are out of the property owner’s control: It’s a little difficult for Uber drivers to find - a good idea to set a pin for the Kenya Revenue Office which is at the main road end of the track that the villa is on; we walked a couple of minutes from the villa to this junction to meet our rides. There were power cuts each night which is as an issue across Diani and clearly not the property owner’s fault; This meant that the bedrooms were very very hot on 2 of our 3 nights as the AC was off for several hours. Some of the internal lighting still works when there is a power cut. Electricity isn’t included and, as in all of Kenya, it is quite expensive so worth being aware of this when booking. For 3 nights our electricity was £34.

We had a very good stay in the villa, the security and cleaning staff helped us with many questions. the host offers you good tour packages at a good price.
