Union Hotel Port

Union Hotel Port is a very good hotel when traveling to Istanbul. The location is very accessible to nearby tourist spots and very accessible to bus and tram station. What I liked most during my stay is the very kind and helpful staffs who provided very good recommendations on places to visit and how to get there. They also give very welcoming smile whenever I meet them in the lobby. Will definitely stay here again.

Hotel is in a quiet area and close to the tram. Sam and FD team provided excellent customer service. They suggested places to go, booked hammam on a short notice and made sure my laundry came back on time before I need to pack my stuff. If you’re still deciding on which place to book, don’t hesitate and book here. You will enjoy your stay.

Excellent location, excellent staff, excellent room service. I have stayed 2 nights, very comfortable, just 3 minutes walking to bus and train stations, 5 minutes walking to ferry station, 10 minutes walking to Galataport which is beautiful place. Staff are great, they do their best to help you, they upgrade our reservation.

The hotel is very strict about its cancellation policies. I booked a non-refundable room, but later noticed that prices had dropped across all room types. I contacted Agoda, but the hotel refused to allow any changes or cancellation. They are very rigid on this matter. I also read reviews mentioning that they would not even cancel bookings made on the wrong dates. So my advice: do not book the non-refundable rate. The location worked well for me. It’s a short walk to Kabataş ferry terminal, and the F1 funicular connects you directly to the metro at Taksim. The T1 tram also takes you to most of the main tourist attractions in the city. Now, about the room. This is not a luxury hotel. It feels more like a small, basic accommodation that meets your essential needs, but you shouldn’t expect anything fancy. The lobby is very small, and the elevator is tiny as well, though the room itself is a decent size. My original booking was in the separate building. When the hotel refused to cancel my reservation, they offered to upgrade me to a deluxe room. However, when I asked about the difference, I was told there was essentially no difference, and that the rooms in the side building were actually more spacious. So I chose to keep my original booking. Upon arrival, I found that my room faced the street. I could hear all kinds of noise — pedestrians, vehicles, trams passing by, people talking — and there was also construction on the other side of the building (which I understand is beyond the hotel’s control). I also had a medical procedure done during my stay. On the first night, there was some bleeding that stained the pillow. When I approached the reception for assistance, I felt the response was somewhat dismissive. I was advised to go to a pharmacy and get something to cover it, and was told not to stain the pillow further. This response did not sit well with me, especially given the circumstances. After a few nights, I couldn’t tolerate the noise anymore and asked to switch to the room they had originally offered. At that point, the situation changed. I was told that since I had declined the upgrade earlier, I would now have to pay the difference. The amount wasn’t huge, but it left a bad impression. The new room I paid for was acceptable, and I was finally able to rest well. However, during check-out, the reception tried to justify the extra charge by referring back to our previous email exchange. At that point, I stopped the conversation — it felt unnecessary and not entirely sincere. Most of the staff are hospitable, but they also repeatedly ask guests for positive reviews, which may explain the high ratings. Personally, I would not return, due to the rigid cancellation policy and the way they handled the additional charge for a quieter room.
