Spacious, great location

A few malfunctions: a leaking kayak and a broken bathroom sink/faucet

This is a large plantation-style house in a flawless location. You have your own private access to the beach where you can walk, swim and snorkel right off the deck. However, the water is really shallow, about 1-2 feet in most places until you get the boat passage, and that's where the underwater wildlife gets interesting- but of course you can't swim there. The stunning views from the backyard make this rental one of a kind. Stefani, the on-site manager was cool, easy to work with and responsive.

- For a villa of this size and the price charged, the facilities are low end - for example, the gas stove isn't a good quality, 1 of the 4 burners was out of service, so cooking 3 x meals a day for 7 people took forever and was a chore. - Investing in a water filtration system would be a nice standard. Always having to get water bottles and manage them was a pain. - There are not enough dishes for 7 people let alone the 11 that this place could accommodate. No wine glasses, few drinking glasses, cheap silverware and not many lids for the pots. - The electric gate for access to the property is broken, and needs to be fixed so that guests don't have to continuously lock and unlock it. -The deck has some loose/ broken boards that need to be replaced. -The hut on the end of the deck has lights but they didn't work and the large treehouse was condemned. -The mezzanine, where 3 beds are placed gets quite warm, despite the fans. -The master bedroom is located under the mezzanine, and you hear everything: the fans working, people talking & walking and coming down the stairs. -The closet in the master needed the light changed, impossible to see my clothes I stored there. The replacement came 2 days later. -The bathroom in the master bedroom in the main house was infested with cockroaches. And while the design of the sink is unique- but the large shell is difficult to clean and it shows. I also hated the open shower and stone floor, as puddles of water accumulated everywhere after a shower and didn't drain, the toilet was always soaked as was the toilet paper. - Worst of all...we had no hot water for 3 of the 4 days of our stay. So, we had 2 plumbers come over 2 days, negatively affecting our plans and the enjoyment of this property. We learned that the system on the roof actually needs to be changed, but the owner won't spend the money. And, to make matters worse, the owner denied us a rebate for the inconvenience. So, renter beware.

No breakfast but a good kitchen

Cleaning could be more thorough
