The grounds are beautiful and it has the air of a “make your own adventure” to it.
The room I booked according to the images on the site was the one with a four poster bed and the bathroom with a door. However, when I arrived the woman at reception took us to a different room and when I raised the matter with her she did not try explain or sort the issue but simply gave me the room I had booked - after raising the matter with her again. The lady did not give us much explanation for the stay as to where anything is, what areas are available to guests or what to do regarding the doors to the main house etc. While I understand she simply was there to check us in, she did not seem interested in being helpful to guests. Be sure to confirm with the host which room it is that you have before arrival so as to avoid the awkward situation we found ourselves in as the room booked seems to have majority pictures of one room with a handful of the less desirable room but both are being charged at the same rate.

The pool area, was spacious, we could braai and eat there as well. The views are amazing and pool was perfect temperature. Rooms were good size. We had access to the pool and surrounding areas of the farm during all hours of the night. Very safe when walking.
Spider webs in manor loft. There was no refrigerator and portable stove top on rooms, both the cellar and manor. Kitchen closed off early to guests, so we couldn't access our food and cool drinks at any time. Was confused about the access to what facilities we are able to use in the kitchen area. There was no clear indication of what activities we could partake in on the farm. We also did not have towels in our room.

Beautiful place, grounds lovely with wine tasting in the "forest", nice pool but only for use by those in the Manor House We always stay in the Manor House as its less rustic than the other accommodation. Lots of history in the wine farm.
We have been to Montpellier about eight times now. For us it has a specific rustic, original, old world feel and really there is something in the water!!

Our stay at Montpellier had many highlights. The location was perfect, just outside of town, offering a peaceful retreat. The accommodation provided ample space, and parking for our trailer was easy and convenient. The farm and its surroundings were beautiful, adding to the charm of the stay. However, our experience was disrupted by frequent noise from a gravel farm road, likely used by staff. The disturbances, especially late at night and early in the morning, impacted our rest.
Noise Disturbances: The units were situated next to staff quarters, leading to significant disruptions from staff activities. As early as 6:30 AM, staff members were frequently opening and closing doors and engaging in prolonged conversations, creating a disruptive environment that disturbed our rest. Additionally, the constant noise from cars driving up and down near the units further exacerbated the disturbance, contributing to an overall lack of peace and quiet throughout our stay. Unwelcoming Host Experience: Upon arriving at the property around 5:30 PM, we felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. The hosts conveyed a sense of inconvenience, making it seem as though our short overnight stay was a hassle to accommodate. They expressed surprise at receiving our last-minute booking, stating they typically do not accept such reservations. Overall, the hosts were unfriendly, contributing to an unpleasant start to our stay.
