Ayla Studio House I Seaside Cosy and Modern

Host was accommodating for an earlier check-in at 11:30. The apartment was very clean on arrival. Plenty of space for two people. A well equipped kitchen with cooking essentials provided. Comfortable lounge with TV. Also a TV in the bedroom. The bed was comfortable. Bedroom and lounge have AC and the Wi-Fi is excellent throughout the apartment. Location is ideal, a short walk to the beach and seafront. Supermarket, butcher and green grocer within a couple of minutes walk.

Kathleen, who is the owner, was an exceptionally helpful and responsive host — both before we arrived and while we were there. She received us in person and was flexible with check-in as we arrived early. The apartment is literally a one-minute walk from the nice sandy beach, which seemed mostly visited by locals (end of June). The apartment is quite comfortable, has a great rooftop terrace with chairs and table, and another terrace for drying clothes. Birzebbuga is a peaceful little town, very few tourists, but quite an active local life.

Like many modernized apartments in very old Mediterranean houses, the apartment is situated on several floors — in this case three. The floors are connected by a spiral staircase that you must be able to negotiate. You enter at ground level, kitchen, living room with large sofa that I guess could be used as abed and the main bathroom are on the second floor, while the bedroom, terrace and open bathroom is on the third floor. A bit cumbersome, but climbing and descending stairs is supposed to be healthy :-)

A fantastic place to stay, not far from the beach. Fully air-conditioned and in a quiet location. The accommodation offers everything you need for a comfortable stay. We especially loved the large rooftop terrace, which we used every evening. We stayed for a week. The owner, Kathleen, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. A very good restaurant, Top Five, is also nearby. It offers excellent cuisine at reasonable prices. We felt very comfortable here. Thank you to Kathleen for the excellent service.

I can't find any negative points. Everything was perfect.

The property is clean and modern with everything (and more!) you need. The roof terrace is an added bonus!

For us, this was a perfect base to explore Malta.
