About this house rental
A fully equipped cottage on McHeard Cove in East Blue Hill. An easy trip to Blue Hill or Ellsworth, a little further to Mount Dessert Island or Deer Isle. The property sits "behind" our new house but has its own grassy area for coffee, books or contemplation that looks right out to the cove. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. Working furnace, but the heat is only distributed to the lower level and the upstairs bathroom. There is a deck for relaxing or eating outside. Easy walk to the local beach. We have kayaks that we can share.

We came to Maine to this great property to this great property Everything was as described - beautiful views of the water out the back of the property Great local restaurants in Surry and Ellsworth Close enough to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor for Day trips and far enough away to escape the tourist traffic

Caryl and her husband were a delight, as was the property itself. It is an old farmhouse, but has everything you need for an enjoyable week. It is close to the center of Blue Hills (8min), Ellsworth (20), and Bar Harbor (50). It was probably the most active vacation to Maine we've had yet; there are so many things nearby. The dogs had a blast. It was fun to walk around and explore the entire area. It is beautiful. For future visitors.....Restaurant wise-- we recommend:Josie's-- a nearby convenience store with GREAT food. Arborvine-- a very nice fine dining experience if you don't mind making a reservation and spending some money. Fogtown-- great brewery and pizza. I really liked their ciders. Hills Market and Cafe-- phenomenal people and brunch.Pugnuts-- the best gelato (seriously, it was the best gelato we've ever had).Perry's Lobster-- THE BEST clam chowder (better than my mother's lol), but he rest was mediocre. Serendip-- very, very good southern Asian.Island Takeout-- the best fish and chips I could find. The Maine Lobster Lady-- the best lobster roll of all the ones we tried. ALSO, the best homemade jams we have ever tried. Newberry neck beach was the best beach we went to. Parking is limited. And water shoes are recommended. Cadillac mountain was our favorite stop, but please note you now need a reservation. We definitely recommend bug spray, and Repel Clothing & Insect Spray be cause, like most of Maine, there are a lot of mosquitos and ticks.

A classic Maine property in a scenic location. Perfect for enjoying views of the bay and then making a day trip over to Acadia National Park!
