Charming/Private Home on Deodar Pine-lined St.

I had a work conference in Pasadena and I wanted something substantially more personal than a hotel. Lupe’s place was just the thing. It was quiet, gorgeously decorated, and full of the home amenities I was craving. The neighborhood was so beautiful, and there was an excellent breakfast spot a few minutes walk away. I used Metro to get back downtown, and it was a simple 15 minute bus ride. I’d absolutely stay here again.

Lovely little house with access to a garden in the back. We would stay there again! Very comfortable bed, good work space, great TV screen. There were few cooking condiments which we needed like oil or vinegar. And there was no human contact with the hosts, with no instructions about garbage disposal, or how the TV worked. But the host was kind when we emailed for information. Still....

Rented this space for a weekend visit to the Los Angeles area. We were incredibly satisfied with the space. It was well appointed, super cute and just what we needed. The neighborhood was adorable and fun to walk around We definitely recommend this rental

The place was clean, it was cozy, and private. A wonderful place to stay and very close to the mountains for hiking!

The property was very clean and all the basics, plus some, provided. The area is quiet and safe. Your own transport would be advantages. One very minor criticism would be the couch was a little uncomfortably firm and not great for watching tv.

It was great to return for a second 3-night stay at Lupe's backyard cottage, already knowing that the place would meet all our needs--space, privacy, quiet. The weather was unusually hot during our stay (105, 107), and happily the two AC wall units kept the place quite comfortable. Looking forward to round three on a future trip to Pasadena.

Our stay was great. The location was perfect for moving our daughter to school. Lupe was prompt with communication. Our only complaint would be the pillows were to flat, so we went and got our own after a couple days for better sleep, understandably, everyone has their own preferences when it comes to that. The couch is hard and not really comfortable. Everything else about the home is charming and lovely. We had a wonderful stay. Thanks Lupe!

We enjoyed staying at this spacious cottage. Altadena is dreamy and we had plenty of room and privacy tucked in the trees. The cottage has a full size kitchen and large bedroom great decor and plenty of work space for a working vacation. The location is perfect for visiting LA, everything is a quick drive. We especially loved Millie's which has a large vegan menu and Octavia's Bookshelf bookstore. Pintoresca park is beautiful and close with a skatepark and splash pad. The host is great and easy to communicate with.

Lovely stay. Very helpful, responsive owner. Recommendation: since most people come in a car from out of the area, the owner should handle the parking permit at least for the first night.

Nice space, private and comfortable,in beautiful Altadena

We stayed for 10 days. It was a great location. Our son got a parking pass for us and we were able to park in the street right in front of the property. It was clean and comfortable. We will definitely stay here again!

Altadena is a green oasis in LA, and Lupe made sure we had everything we needed.

Overall good stay. Parking was a snag though as you need to plan ahead for getting permit or parking elsewhere.

I had a lovely stay at this well equipped, clean and cozy cottage. Owner was communicative and quick to respond to inquiries. Would stay again and I recommend.

The unit was wonderful for our girls weekend. Located close enough to downtown Pasadena for a short Uber trip. Yet, far enough away that the neighborhood was quiet and calm. I would definitely stay again if I return to Pasadena. Also, Lupe was very helpful and suggested some wonderful restaurants that we tried.

My husband and I LOVED this place. It's so cute and decorated very tastefully. The pictures are accurate, the guesthouse is easy to access and find, it feel very safe, it's very private, and well stocked with linens, kitchen items, and appliances. There were a fair amount of mosquitos, but if you keep the doors shut, it's not a problem. Our only gripe (and it's VERY minor) was that the hood for the stove doesn't vent outside, so if you do high heat cooking (I was searing a steak), you might set off the smoke alarm. lol Other than that, we can't speak highly enough of the area, the cleanliness, the kindness and responsiveness of the hostess, and the space. For SURE we would (and probably will) stay here again!

I come to Los Angeles once a month for business. I have rented so many different places from Vrbo, and this is definitely one of the best ever. The guest house is immaculate and so well stocked - I almost always find something is missing from the kitchen that I need, but not this time. The check in process was flawlessly easy, and Lupe is an incredibly attentive host. The neighborhood is lovely. I definitely felt safer here than i have at any other rental. I do not have one complaint, not even a tiny one. The guest house is so comfortable and lovely. I will stay here again and highly recommend you do!

We chose this rental for the location (walkable to family for us and an easy ride share to the Burbank airport), and for the great value (vs. a hotel, which have required a car rental). The guesthouse is private, comfortable, clean and spacious. It’s nestled in a beautiful and friendly neighborhood. We were very pleased with the quick and kind communication with our host Lupe.

Lupe's guesthouse is exactly as shown in the photos. It's in a fabulous neighborhood, easy to get to, and close walking distance to a good coffee shop. It's spacious, comfortable, and well equipped. Wish we could've lounged in the outdoor space, but it was damp and cool during our stay. Next time ... because we will definitely try to book the place again when we next visit the area.

Overall great experience here. Everything you need to have a comfortable stay for less than hotel prices!

Such a quaint guest house, with whimsical and vibrant accents decorated in the space. The Lupe family were so kind and helpful. Good for 2 people, wifi access very good if you need to telework and extra kit/bath needs available for longer stays. The mattress was a comfortable retrieve from long days out. Close to fantastic restaurants and gardens that are a must see. If in Pasadena have a stay here.

Domicile is perfect for 1-2 people. All amenities provided. Quiet, attractive neighborhood, pleasant walking routes in all directions. Friendly, responsive hosts.

Lupe was very kind ; greeted us and showed us around. It had everything we needed and worked out well for our family.

TERRIBLE experience. Booked for 30 days for my mom to stay while visiting. Upon checking in, we discovered that the property and its amenities were misrepresented in the VRBO listing. After raising concerns, the host offered us a full refund, only to later change her mind and REFUSE to refund us! This triggered a frustrating process of filing a complaint with VRBO and disputing the charge with our credit card company. Details: RENTAL WAS NOT CLEAN: Bathroom had HAIR in the tub and sink. Surfaces were covered in grime and had not been cleaned. Surfaces throughout the rental were visibly dusty and dirty. Carpets were full of hair/dirt ---definitely not vacuumed. There was FOOD in the kitchen sink from a prior occupant. Host apologized, “I’m sorry, my husband was supposed clean-- we’ll give you a refund if you want.” My mom was really uncomfortable and wanted to leave. She couldn’t find other accommodations that night, so she slept there ONE night and left in the morning, expecting the host to fulfill her offer of a refund… (which didn’t happen). NO [FREE] PARKING: This “amenity” is highly conditional and certainly not “free”. Guests have three (bad) options: 1) Park in the driveway and be willing to move your car EVERY DAY at 7AM! 2) Be willing to GIVE THE HOST THEIR CAR KEYS and allow her to drive your car each morning to move it onto the street, where overnight parking isn’t allowed without a permit 3) Purchase an expensive parking permit from the city. These conditions were NOT disclosed prior to booking. YARD PICTURED IN LISTING IS NOT INCLUDED: The listing was misleading in including a photograph of this yard, which is not actually part of the rental, but part of the main house occupied by the host. The next day, we expected our refund, instead we received an angry phone call from the host who said she would NOT refund us after all. She refuted our claim that the rental was filthy (we have photos to prove it) and said “I have all 5-star reviews”, when in truth, she has ZERO reviews on VRBO. I asked why she felt it was acceptable to keep our $3700, considering all of the issues with the property and her reason was “I’m running a business.” She then hung up on me and the VRBO representative. Hosts on VRBO are entitled to “run a business” but should do so effectively and responsibly. Misrepresenting their property, violating the terms of rental, then fabricating reasons to keep people’s money is just not cool.
