Sea Shore Lodge Mudeford

We had a lovely stay overall and really liked the lounge area and the kitchen, which were both lovely and well presented. There were, however, a few things that could be improved. We found the beds quite uncomfortable as the mattresses were very thin, and unfortunately the small bedroom had a very strong damp/musty smell, particularly from the bedding. We tried using Febreze and leaving the windows open, but sadly the smell didn’t clear. It would also have been helpful to have bath towels provided, or to have this made clearer before arrival. The toilet seat in the en-suite also needs a little attention as it needs repairing. With a few improvements, particularly to the bedding, mattresses and damp smell, this could be a really lovely place to stay.

The location of the lodge was hard to find and no direct parking available my husband is disabled and it was a struggle to walk from the parking space to the lodge. The lodge is also set back 3 rows from the sea front so there is a view if you stand on the decking and look between the other lodges. I have included a map to show where lodge is

What a fantastic time we had in this fabulous location. The site is small, peaceful and very well managed with welcoming and helpful staff (though the layout is confusing - ask at reception for a map!) The pool has no gimmicks but was immaculately clean, well tended and not over chlorinated and has ample seating around. There is a nice timber playground on site and a larger one adjacent. The lodge is a few yards from the beach and the quay and ferry are a short stroll away. It is shaded by trees, which was very welcome, and is spacious and comfortable with a lovely wrap around verandah and outdoor furniture. The extra bathroom is handy and the kitchen is very well equipped. The owner John was very helpful and responsive to my numerous questions, which is so important. I could relax knowing that he was at the end of the phone if any problems had cropped up. We really enjoyed our stay and only wish it had been longer - I had to drag the children from the pool!

The furnishings do show some signs of wear and tear and the wifi bandwidth struggled with our demands - we had to turn off devices to stream TV - but these had no impact on our enjoyment.

Fantastic location, very clean property.

The hot water wasn’t “hot” so needed to boil kettles to get temperature to an acceptable heat for washing up and bathing, shower was too cold to use. Also disappointing that we brought food to cook a meal and then discovered the oven didn’t work, light comes on and fan starts but doesn’t heat up!
