Elounda Traditional Homes of Crete

The property itself is a very unique Greek style stone house with an exception interior design, phenomenal view to the Elounda gulf located in a fairytale stone build small village right next to the Elounda village cliff! We had an unforgettably pleasant and relaxing experience due to property’s amenities but most importantly the service of Mrs. Olga who took care of us and tried to satisfy all our needs. Highly recommended and definitely value for money!

There is a loud voice from the aircondition of the next house of the property and it was really annoying when you want to seat on the terrace in the night and relax or be with friends. Also, there is a solar boiler in the front house of the premise of high spoilt the nice view of Elounda. Both can be easily sorted out by the owner if he is wishes to enhance the visitors’ experience.

it is in fact a traditional home, a bit like an alpine refuge with a lot of steps and steep stairs. the view from the balcony is beautiful. within a 12 minutes walk you are in town and at the local beach. Just a cross the road is a pub and a restaurant. the people on and off site can easily be contacted and are helpful if something is needed. if you like the simple lifestyle and listening to the summer wind at night this place is perfect.

windows and doors are not insulated at all which exposes the house to weather, wind, heat and sounds. there is an aircon that therefore has not much to offer against the heat. the kitchen, tough functional, is bearly usable since the stove has seen decades and is corroding. also there is no vent. the bathroom has seen its years with an old bathtub and a lot of (for me dangerous) steps. the bathroom door can hardly be closed and somehow with the wooden door to the courtyard the bathroom lacks a bit of privacy. overall the place is rather dark since the lights in the house do not provide a lot of light. the traditional houses have a parking lot that is a few minutes walking away from the house. if you have a spot at the parking lot it's ok. if not it's a bit stressful since the streets are rather narrow and it's not easy to find another parking spot if you don't really know the area.

Charming traditional house. Awesome veranda. Awesome views. The house could have been a jem if host would invest in some modern necessities.

Where do I start? A/c is inadequate. House is three level , there is no airflow, no a/c on first two levels. First level has an open well full of water covered with a lid. First it is not safe for kids, second it creates moldy smell. Second level with two beds - no a/c, no windiws, no airflow, not even a fan. Third level - there is a fan but you cannot turn liggts off - the cord is stuck. There is a/c but it is not adequate for the space.
