With no internet access it was remote and quiet which was very welcome after city hoping for a week. We enjoyed outdoor cooking on the open flame (weather dependant, we were fortunate to have limited rain on the two nights of our stay). Fun for young kids, lots of water and lakes around, nice for exploring and fun things to do. Their vegetable garden was amazing, lots of farm fresh healthy greens and herbs available if you are into that. Not much trout fishing available, one lake which had clean water and apparently has fish but no movement over two days. Probably needs re-stocking.

Unfortunately we stayed at the Wheelhouse facility. Inside cooking facilities in the kitchenette limited to one plate and small hiking gas canister, no sitting area to eat or relax if the weather is bad or cold. No fridge or freezer, fortunately we had a cooler box that could refrigerate off a car battery, no electrical plugs are available for any appliances, only USP charging points and cigarette lighter point. The facilities are all on a solar grid, so limited power and charging options. Bedrooms are in the haul of a boat with no ventilation, claustrophobic at best. The room had a damp musty smell, similar to that of an old yacht bunk, so pretty authentic. I could not sleep inside due to claustrophobia and the smell. The host was however very helpful in arranging a borrowed tent and stretcher for me to sleep in for the two nights. If staying in the Wheelhouse, bring your own two-person tent as a backup, also lots of fun to camp there, lots of fresh air outside. The shower head leaked across the bathroom, but you could still have a shower. The place needs a little TLC.
