About this house rental
I am creating a homestead based on simple but holistic living. The cabin has been built by myself with the help of family and friends over the course of a year and a half. There are a number of trails to walk on the 35 private acreage of rolling hills. This heavily wooded land hosts much wildlife and beautiful scenery including the flat river which is very close by. There is a sport court which provides opportunities to play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, or badminton. A recreational building is currently being constructed. The Fred Meijer trail provides great biking or hiking opportunities. Lazy float tubing or kayaking down the flat river is very popular and only a short walk away. Horse back riding, golf courses, and an amazing local bakery all within a couple miles. A food forest, natural pool/pond, and other projects are on the horizon. The property offers a chance to reconnect with each other, yourself, or the natural world in a simplistic and harmonious way. (there is no wifi) I hope you come experience it!

Cabin and furniture hand built by owner. Cabin was clean and we loved the rural area. AT&T service to our phones was sketchy. No wifi/internet or satellite TV, though there is a large dvd collection and many books are available. Good idea to bring camp chairs. Enjoyed fire out under the lovely night sky with stars and satellite viewing. Also enjoyed exploring the wooded acreage. Owner may come and work in his shop next door during your stay. Owner very responsive to any concerns.We would return to this cabin.

Our group of three were in town to attend the SCCA races at Grattan Raceway. We needed a simple place close to the track. This Cabin in the Woods worked perfectly for our weekend.The cabin is hand built by the owner. The "Welcome Book" shows you pictures of construction. Once inside, you can see the woodworking talent of the owner.Hardwood floors throughout, walls and ceiling with paneled wood. There is a large world map on the wall that looks expertly done in different shades of wood.Home has two full baths. Plenty of hot water and water pressure is good. Ensuite shower was tiled/floored with locally sourced river rocks!Kitchen had everything we needed - dishes, coffee, dishwasher, plenty of space in the fridge.Beds were comfortable. Ample windows throughout to take in the view of trees. It's a great place to spend a quiet evening. We enjoyed ourselves very much. We travel to Grattan a couple times a year, so this cabin will definitely be on our list of places to stay.

The property was fantastic!!! A storm came through and took out the power the day of check in. Michael was fabulous with communication during this time and we were in the property the next morning in time for our sons to drive up and join us as planned.
Thank you so much Michael. It was great and we plan to return in the future as the work you are doing on the property is going to make it even more fantastic.
