Stunning property, very private and secluded. Highly recommend.

The cabin was stunning. King bed, beautiful bathroom and shower everything you could possibly need. The surroundings were amazing, like being in the middle of a rain forest, very private and quiet. Our host was very generous in letting us have a later check out which was great.

An exceptional, peaceful retreat.

Our cottage was perfect, as they all likely are, with a view out the fully glass wall out the back to a private deck and what can only be described as a tropical jungle with a multitude of birds. The comfortable bed faced that wall as well so you could sit up in bed and enjoy it. The bathroom was also exceptional with a great rain shower with lots of water pressure if desired. The kitchen had what you needed with a good sized refrigerator.

The private gravel driveway was long and the road to the driveway was also not paved but both were well worth it for how peaceful and quiet it was at the cottage.

a beautiful place to escape to. couldnt find any faults. we only stayed one night as we where attending a party in the area. but would love to come back and stay longer and really enjoy the place. waking up to a view of the Forrest was magical.

Little area of peace and quiet!!

Magical place so peaceful We loved sitting outside listening to the birds and just being in the peace and quiet. The cottage we were in was lovely. Beautiful bathroom and nice comfortable bed. Furnishings were really nice. Loved the underfloor heating. Great touch. Awesome being able to open the ranchslider right back for the outside access. Little touches were fab - portable speaker , bedside lights with usb slots , even a charger plugged into the wall!! No tv was awesome, too. The walk down to the waterfall was great highly recommend. Loved seeing all the different birds around and the sheep were cool to watch too. The host was friendly and down to earth. Easy check in and check out. Lovely surroundings - we enjoyed playing petanque. Great bbq area even though we didn't make use of it we thought it was really good. An amazing little place and we will definitely be back. This is a wonderful find. And it has been a lovely way to end our mini honeymoon.

Stylish, quiet, true “hideout” in the middle of a forest

The property felt brand new, very clean, stylish interior, floor heating, true “hideout”, it felt as if we were somewhere deep in a rainforest. The host was very nice, let us check in much earlier than the regular check in time. We would certainly return.

Our stay at The Hideout was nothing short of perfect. Gorgeous scenery, a warm modern but cozy cottage and a quick drive

Location 10/10. Close enough to Mangawhai town that it’s not a hassle, far enough into the bush to feel relaxed and away from a city environment. The property is stunning with sheep and a waterfall and all the amenities you need. Warm cottage, no TV (which we loved), playing cards provided and the most gorgeous walk in shower. We couldn’t fault it.

Very peaceful little getaway

Stayed in the Kotare Cottage. It was large, tidy and welcoming. Had all the necessary amenities. Bathroom was very clean and well designed. Communication with Sara was easy and check in was smooth. Lovely surroundings. Made for a very comfortable and peaceful stay. Would definitely come back and stay for longer!

Amazing little retreat!

We were so surprised at how amazing this place was! The communal chill out area was an amazing and the rooms were so spacious and comfortable! The bathrooms were so modern and the deck with the swing was perfect to sit outside and watch the birds. So many useful cooking facilities and loved the touch of milk, tea and coffee! Also just a short drive away from town!

Beautiful getaway in rolling pastures

Beautiful little cottage perfect to unplug and unwind. The build is new and a perfect size for a couple. Loved the deep veranda, egg chair and huge bed. The rain shower was wonderful too along with the underfloor heating. A short walk through paddocks to a little waterfall was a pleasant way to start the day.

Some basic breakfast provisions would be the icing on the cake.

Incredible find

Incredible location - exactly what you want when escaping Auckland suburbia. But also really close to local shops and restaurants. Cabins are so tastefully decorated and look brand new. Very cosy with underfloor heating. Super comfy bed. Loved waking up to the tranquility and bush views. Will definitely be back.

The room was lovely and the privacy like no other. Super quiet, a perfect getaway. The bed was a little hard for my taste, but that's a personal taste. The road to get there was in poor repair, so you're best served by a larger car/SUV.

The cabins were very comfortable and perfectly furnished. We stayed at the Piwakawaka & Tui cabins. We watched the stars from our bed and listened to the morepork.

We loved every minute. We purposefully bought pizza and breakfast with us so we wouldn’t have to leave!

Loved the cabin! So comfortable and something a little bit special to usual accommodation. Loved the exclusivity of the location. Absolutely loved watching the kererū, piwakawaka, riroriro, tui and hearing morepork at night.

The setting was fabulous, tho’ we commented that the ‘bush’ by our deck could do with a bit if a tidy up and maybe a few ferns or ponga could be planted to give it more of a ‘NZ bush’ feel.

A fantastic hideaway cottage stay

Beautifully designed and located private cottage for a couple tucked into lovely rainforest in a valley at the bottom of farmland. Buying food or eating out requires a bit of a drive and it is good to check in and unload in daylight so you know the long entrance track before you return from dining out.

Nothing apart from the previous occupants having turned the floor heating up rather higher than we prefer.

Lovely Quiet surrounded by nature, loved having a shower looking at the trees , would have loved to book a massage as there is one locally that comes to you , as time restrictions wasn’t able to , a big towels was a bonus

Very peaceful surroundings, nice clean accommodation. Our stay was only one night but we felt comfortable and enjoyed the property.

Property initially a little difficult to find. would have appreciated a tea towel and cloth to wipe down kitchen area.
