Private Lakefront Home on 1.2 acres with 400ft of waterfront + docks

Every winter I find a place to escape the Alberta winter for a month. I had never heard of Shawnigan Lake but loved the look of this Lakehouse. The photos and description were enticing… but the magic and beauty of this waterfront home far exceeded expectations. An hour drive from Schwartz Bay ferry terminal. An unassuming front of house with a door to a beautiful home that blends the indoor comforts with outdoor magic. This is a stunning home and location that is beautifully decorated and fitted with the best of everything you need for a restful sleep, a morning coffee on the water, and a fabulous kitchen for creating (gas stove too). There are endless walking/running trails and quick access to cafes, restaurants and a community of kind and interesting people. Recharged my soul.

We've been many times. This place is peaceful and calm. The beds are fantastic. The kitchen is well stocked. It's really clean and very well maintained. Basically, perfect. Thank you.

We very much enjoyed our stay. Every detail was attended to! Very clean and a great location.

My family of 4 thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this house. This was our home base while we explored the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. Deer, families of geese, a great horned owl, eagles, hawks, and hummingbirds were all viewed from the windows and back deck. There are great wineries, a cheese farm, and groceries with locally grown produce in the area. The house has lots to do and is very comfortable. We met the owner when he was checking on another property in the area, and he was very friendly. Shawnigan Lake Village and Mill Bay had everything we needed. I highly recommend and would stay here again.

Luxurious stay in beautiful surroundings. Host leaves all supplies needed including spices, kitchenware, beach towels, outdoor blankets, paper goods, cleaning supplies, games. Would stay again for sure.

This is a beautiful cottage setting on the lake with all the amenities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

We had a fabulous stay. The house is simply beautiful and the hosts have thought of everything you would need. We loved sitting on the dock and having our coffee. The outside property is gorgeous with so many sitting options such as on the dock, the lakeside firepit, the swing, and the huge deck. Better than the pictures. The village is within walking distance and has all you need such as a general store, pharmacy, cute coffee shop and a number of take-out restaurants. We would highly recommend this VRBO.

Everything is prefect, except that can not go during the summer! Otherwise, it will be much fun for kids.

We loved the boathouse, the docks, the sublime views, the cozy beds, and so many dreamy spots to lounge and soak in the natural beauty of the lake. Cannot wait to come again. Well and thoughtfully equipped. Great views of lake which changed with light, weather, foliage. Spotlessly clean and comfortable. If anything, the pictures understate how wonderful this place is. The host was accessible and helpful

This lake house was an incredible place to stay for our whole family. The views were incredible, in all weather. We all found it to be so very beautiful and bright. There were a couple of hiccups, but the property managers were incredible and followed up super quickly, and very kindly. The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, baking dishes, appliances etc, glasses etc. Memories were made. Some family members didn’t want to leave. :) We CANNOT wait to come back.

Once again, Shawnigan Point did not disappoint! This was our second stay at this fantastic, fully stocked house on the lake with spacious rooms (with heavenly bedding!), an awesome deck and amazing dock where we spent our days swimming and soaking up the sun. The house is surrounded by lush greenery with trees on all sides, so it is much more private than other houses on the lake. We LOVE this place and plan on continuing to return every year.

I can't adequately describe how beautiful a location this place is! The recently remodeled home is light, airy, and modern with comfortable beds and furniture and plenty of places to gaze out to the lake, both inside and out. My favorite part were the well-designed wall-to-wall windows and staggered elevation, which provided breathtaking views from almost anywhere inside the main living area. Looking towards the lake was soo relaxing and ever-changing depending on the lighting outside. We had a very comfortable stay and thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and we would whole-heartedly stay here again. A couple of niggling things for people to be aware would be first - that the equipment outside such as the trampoline, one of the dock walkways (the less-used one), and basketball hoop were a little old and falling apart, which the photos didn't really show. The trampoline is rusting and didn't seem in good enough condition that I'd let my kids go on it. The walkway along the water to the trampoline was dramatically tipping so that it seemed unsafe to use much, though I did walk on it to get to the trampoline and didn't fall in. I wouldn't let younger kids go on it in its current condition, though. The main dock near the boat house was in good condition and is the one most accessible/easy to use. It was cold outside and we didn't end up doing anything in the water, so it wasn't a big loss for my teens, but they were looking forward to the trampoline since we don't have one at our house. The only other slightly wonky thing was the main bathroom's vent button, which is in an unusual spot. It is behind the door near the ceiling, so you need a pole or something to turn it on/off, which was a bit annoying both to find and to use. If there could be a pole already there plus a sign letting people know what to do, that would be helpful and make things a non-issue. While I am mentioning these two things for others to be aware, I didn't think they detracted from our stay or made a difference in our overall experience, which was excellent. Overall, stellar place to stay, and we would absolutely stay here again!!!

My husband and I stayed with our 2 kids and had a great time. Super easy check in. The king size beds are super comfy as is the furniture. Super clean and updated. The boat house had a great ping pong table, thankfully the doors were closed as we are not that good at it. LOL! Breath taking Malahat Skywalk nearby as well as Butchart Gardens/Vitoria. Definitely recommend!

Our family of 4 were all very impressed with the views thru-out the house of the lake and the open space. Perfect location easily assessable for day trips to Victoria and Bushart Gardens or not to do anything and soak up the relaxing vibe on the large deck. One of the nicest rentals we have stayed in. Extremely clean and modernized.

We brought together four generations of family from across Canada to celebrate missed birthdays & milestones. This property was perfect for every age group - comfortable quiet bedrooms, cosy spots for story time with Grandma, green spaces and easy entry lake access for outdoor activities and water sports, and a fully stocked high-end kitchen ready for preparing family feasts. Walking distance to Shawnigan’s charming downtown, with all the amenities on hand we needed to make our stay complete. We loved every moment of our stay, and would highly recommend it to any family looking to reconnect and relax together. We’ll be back!

At risk of others renting and our inability when we want it again in the future, we can’t say enough about this property. We’ve stayed in a number of VRBO’s and this property was, hands down, the best one. From the wow factor when you walk through the door until you close the doors upon leaving, it is amazing. The house has comfortable beds, the kitchen is well stocked. It has all of the conveniences of home. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us! We’ll be back!

Hands down, best property and lake house on Shawnigan! We’ve stayed in many rentals on the lake and none compare to this one. From the expansive lakefront, well manicured lawn, cute boat house/games room, kayaks, and multiple fire pits, to the fully stocked, beautifully designed inside of the home with the dreamiest beds, bedding and pillows, there was nothing more we could have asked for. This really is a home away from home! We’ve already booked our week for next year and cannot wait to be back with family and friends to enjoy everything this space has to offer, inside and out. Special thanks to our wonderful host Shane for making everything about our stay more than perfect!

It was a cold and rainy week, including a fabulous wind storm and everything was fantastic! So relaxing. So easy. Gorgeous swimming and then watching the lake for hours in those big comfortable chairs was balm to our souls. Thank you Shane and family!
