I would say that this is the best cottage I have ever booked and stayed at. So warm and homely. I wish all were as nice as this. The facilities were spot on, rooms comfortable, bathrooms/showers lovely to use and warm sofas in the lounge comfortable, log fire easy to use and made the room even cosier and outdoor facilities brilliant too.
Location was eally very quiet too wih enough facilities in nearby Newton Stewart.
The one and only thing which was relatively minor is being able to unlock the frront door takes a little mastery of the technique.
That was it

Great communication. Lovely cottage with everything you need and more. Would love to go in summer to try out the gin shed x

Clean, comfortable, large enclosed garden and little things like tin foil, cling film, kitchen roll etc were a real help.

It had plenty room for a family of 4. Good bathroom facilities though downstairs bedroom had to go upstairs. Comfy beds. Quiet location. Enclosed garden good for dog and older children. Good Wi-Fi. Summer house was a nice addition for outdoor sitting. Smart TV a bonus.

The cottage was easy to find. On entering and looking around, we loved it straight away. The house is tastefully furnished and instantly relaxing.
The beds are comfy and the showers are good. The garden is lovely and importantly for us with 2 dogs, secure. We made use of the bench at the top as it was a good sun trap in the evening for a book and a cuppa.
The area is very quiet and peaceful, we were lucky to see some good skies late at night.
The neighbours were lovely and gave us tips on places to go. We walked into Newton stewart one morning and had lunch at Brigend Pantry which was first class and dog friendly, although most places are in the area.
Note to dog owners, downstairs is open plan so we crated our younger dog at overnight. We could have done with a few more days in this lovely chilled cottage.
Nothing.

Everything was clean, tastefully decorated and everything you could possibly need.
Having to leave.

It was roomy and spacious. There were only 2 of us so plenty of room to move around.
The mattress on the double bed was rather soft and lumpy and probably needs renewing. The shower in the ensuite needs a door to avoid leaks on the floor.

A very clean and comfortable cottage. Facilities were first rate and reflected the owners efforts to provide all that was needed. We very much enjoy the local attractions like the outdoor centre at Kirroughtrees. The dog loved it.
Pleased to say nothing.

Had a bit of trouble opening side door to property so used the rear door to the kitchen to access the property.

Keycode had been provided well in advance, along with a contact telephone number in case of any problems. There were no problems accessing the property.
Property was spotlessly clean, well equipped and easily located. They have an early check-in and late departure in comparison to many places that we have stayed - all adding to the relaxed atmosphere and friendly ambience. We would highly recommend this property.

We've stayed in lots of cottages mainly in Scotland over the years, as a family of four with dog. We liked in no particular order. Clean. Homely. Thoughtful touches throughout. Three good sized bedrooms. Enclosed garden. Nice peaceful views and location. Gin shed. Good water pressure in showers. Plenty of hot water for baths and showers. Decent kitchen space. Plenty of cooking utensils. Easy to use and effective central heating. Simple instructions for cooker etc. Good supply of firewood for wood burner. Comfortable sofa. Good soundproofing from main road. Dark sky at night. Hooting owls from woods behind the cottage. Second fridge. Excellent communication from host.

The cottage is very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. It has everything you could possibly want or need. The hosts go above and beyond. We stayed for Christmas and they had decorated for us, which was lovely. The location is also absolutely perfect. We love 2 Calgow Cottages and this is our second visit.

The cottage is lovely, so comfortable, peaceful and cosy. So much thought has gone into making it a wonderful place for guests. The wood burner is really great, especially for a winter stay. An amazing location, too.. the dark skies and gorgeous Galloway coast and woodland are stunning. I'll definitely stay again.

Excellent accommodation, very clean and well equipped. Really unusual to get an ample supply of logs! Very comfortable stay. Son and partner have already booked to stay at Christmas!

Comfortable, modern, well equipped. Well situated for nearby biking and for seeing the area
Front door needs looking at - takes a few goes to unlock/ lock it. Door between hall and kitchen doesn’t close fully.

Cosy, luxurious and very well equipped cottage with beautiful views and large garden.
Only downside are the curtains. They let in too much light. Blinds would help.

The cottage turned out to be an excellent choice for three friends visiting the area for a few days. It was immaculately clean and very comfortable. The hosts were very prompt in responding and have obviously put a lot of thought into making this an ideal, self-catering place to stay. It was very well-appointed, particularly the kitchen with glassware, crockery, utensils, etc and there were clear instructions for the oven and hob (so often, frustratingly, forgotten), and included details such as providing dishwasher tablets; the en suite shower room and bathroom functioned well and had lovely towels and the wifi was reliable. It was in a great location - we visited St Ninian's Cave, Wigton, Kirkcudbright (including the Galloway Hoard), and the Chambered Cairn, among other places. I would heartily recommend the cottage to anyone looking for first class accommodation in the area.
nothing to criticise.

Emails arrived in time for arriving and departing. Easy to enter property and lots of car parking space.
I would be really struggling to find anything we didnt like. The standard the decor and the layout of the property were fabulous. Wifi was available, essential with two teenagers. Fabulous water pressure for the showers.

Great cottage in lovely location. Forest hikes and access to the mountain bike trails from the front door. The large shed is a bonus for locking bikes out of sight.
The summer house was a lovely retreat for cooler evenings and a bit of space to enjoy my gin in!
Kitchen is probably one of the best equipped we have ever used in a rental cottage ..... the supply of cleaning materials was a bonus too.
Beds were comfy and sofa spacious.
So much to do locally....... Wigtown, Whithorn and Kircudbright all worth a visit.
If you are into gardens, you are spoilt for choice......Logan botanical garden was a highlight.
We went to Belfast as a cheeky side trip as the ferry is only 40 minutes away and was only £25 return for 2 people as foot passengers.
Log fire in lounge looks lovely and a plentiful supply of logs ( we never needed it as the sun shone for our 12 day visit).
The garden backs onto the forest so we enjoyed birdwatching from the comfort garden.
We rent a couple of cottages a year and this has to be one of the best we have stayed in.
And nearly forgot to mention the stars.......as a city dweller, I have never seen so many stars.....took my breath away.

The cottage is in a pretty little hamlet and has great parking and a child friendly back garden. The house itself is so cosy and comfortable. The kitchen is well equiped which was really handy as we cooked all our meals. The heating is excellent and there is also a woodburning stove. There are lots of interesting outdoor places to visit in the area, so plenty of things to do for all age groups. This cottage is a real gem and we hope to go back next spring
Everything in this cottage is very new and well presented. There is nothing we did not like except we were sad that our family could not join us due to Covid but hopefully we can all go back next year
