A friendly place in the heart of Serre-Chevalier, perfect for a stop during a bikepacking or backpack trip, easy check-in, healthy breakfast included and a safe room to store bicycles overnight.

The rooms are a bit dated; they could do with a refurbishment.

Great and friendly stay in Serre Chevalier

Auberge de Jeunesse HI Serre- Chevalier was an amazing stay! Technicalities - everything was great! The rooms were clean and had bathroom facilities, the location was great (you can reach a ski lift within a very short walk), and breakfast and dinner were also both included in my booking, making my stay very convenient. Notably, all the staff were very kind and happy to chat, as well as help me in any way getting to know the area/public transport/about the slopes which I really appreciated, especially being my first time skiing! The communal dining area was also nice and made for a nice space to chat with other guests, and added to the overall social atmosphere of the hostel. Overall- this was a really fantastic stay and I would definitely love to come back !!😊😊😊

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, social atmosphere, breakfast included in the price. I appreciated that the hostel takes their sustainability goals seriously - they provide vegetarian food, good system for sorting waste, advice to guests etc.

The beds were creaking a bit, and the food was very basic (although it was also rather cheap)

The view of the mountains.

All the services are excluded (like towels and shampoo/ soap for hand washing). The bedsheets were dirty. The dinner and breakfast are low quality. This could be fine as we are in a hostel but I do not understand the high prices for a night. The host tried to oblige us to pay a supplement for a membership.

Very sociable atmosphere, eating together at the same table(s).

Possibly the only thing I think could be improved would be a bathroom/ toilet available in the public areas, for use when the toilet in your form is being used.

The staff is really friendly and welcoming, everything is clean and well organised, and the facilities, although being a bit old, are in good conditions and pretty comfortable (they are excellent for the price!).

The only things I missed was a salty option for breakfast and a bit warmer common areas, especially the bar (not a negative point, just a personal opinion).

Breve sosta tra le Alpi francesi

Ostello tranquillo e non affollato. Buona posizione, soprattutto al di fuori dal caos di Briancon. Bagno e doccia riservata alla nostra camera, anche se in comune. Staff disponibile e accogliente.

Colazione un po’ povera, poca varietà di prodotti. Avrei gradito dei prodotti locali.

Je sais qu’on ne peut pas s’attendre à des miracles vu le prix, mais le confort était vraiment très spartiate. Quelques petits aménagements pourraient pourtant faire une grande différence : dans les douches, un tapis de bain, quelques crochets, un peu de rangement… Dans les chambres, même constat : aucune possibilité de fermer les casiers avec un cadenas, pas de rangement autour du petit lavabo… Ma chambre était équipée du strict minimum. Les matelas sont très fins ; j’ai eu assez mal au dos (je ne fais pourtant que 75 kg), donc à éviter si vous êtes un gabarit plus costaud.

Sehr tolles Frühstück, nette Besitzer

Tolles Frühstück!! Es gibt Cerealien (Haferfocken, Schokopops oder Cornflakes), Joghurt, viel Obst (Bananen, Äpfel, Aprikosen, Nektarinen), Speck, Käse, Honig, Marmeladen, Maronicreme, Brot, Baguette, Zwieback und Croissants. Außerdem diverse Heißgetränke. Das Obst steht rund um die Uhr zur Verfügung. Wirklich sehr toll. Es gibt einen netten Außenbereich und auch einen netten Innenbereich. Sehr großer Keller wo man Rad abstellen kann. Nachts wird er verriegelt, tagsüber aber nicht. Ich war in einem 4-er Frauensaal mit zwei anderen Frauen, die sehr nett waren. Badezimmer & Toilette sind am Zimmer und eher sehr klein, aber passabel. Allerdings gab es keine richtige Ablage für meine Sachen.

Internet ging bei mir nicht. Die Rezeption ist nur zu ausgewählten Zeiten besetzt... Man kommt aber zumindest trotzdem ins Gebäude (Zimmer sind natürlich abgesperrt)
