A man stands at the outside door of the women's washroom at 5 am , feeling wired even though he did nothing to me.

Basic, Clean for a Night or Two

Clean and basic hostel for one two nights. Fair breakfast for 7€. The woman at the reception was kind to call me as I was arriving late, and got me set up to get in when I arrived.

The man at the reception desk was rude and pretentious. He should not be working with foreigners. When I attempted to asked in french if they had a snack machine, he rudely said to me "Your french makes no sense, speak English". I realize my french isn't perfect, but I took french classes in 2 cities in france and have traveled in France for 4 months. No one was ever so rude. Fortunately, I have met so many nice and helpful french people and really like the French. He is just one of those stereotypical rude french people the world believes are really rude - not a good representation for your hostel. This experience did give me an unfavorable stay at your hostel which is reflected in the rating. I have to tell you it was very funny after he insisted I speak English, and I told him I wanted to get a candy bar. He had no idea what I was talking about and thought I was looking for restaurants. I then asked if he knew of a Tabac nearby where I could get one and he lectured me on Tabacs only selling tobacco and that I was wrong. Well, I have bought candy bars many times in Tabacs and I found one and bought one there. This man lacks etiquette, international cultural knowledge and class. If not for him, I would have given you a better rating.

Best place to stay in Cherbourg

The staff is what I would like to commemorate! There was an issue with booking and that caused a delay with the check in. I was able to spend time and enjoy the city but to my surprise the staff upgraded my booking to accommodate for the booking error. The staff made me feel not only welcome but also part of the community. I would have stayed longer if I knew how great the stay would be. If you stay in Cherbourg, this is the place you should stay. Also there was scooter parking right next to the hotel which is amazingly convenient. The guest kitchen area was well maintained and stocked for you to make many different types of meals and make yourself coffee. Everything was always clean whether I used one of the wash rooms in the middle of the night or during busy times in the day. I have been in France for a few weeks and I think this was my most enjoyed stay! Thank you to the staff that was so wonderful to me

Nice stay in Cherbourg!

I stayed there before, and the place is quite nice. This time I was in another room, but the facilities were the same. The room was as clean as it could be (the facilities are a bit dated, but it is a youth hostel, so that is kind of a standard :)). There's a small breakfast and a kitchen you can use to cook your own meals too. The hostel is also close to the city centre if you want to wander around. Overall, it is a nice stay in Cherbourg!

It is a bit dated, but in my eyes, this is not a negative as, overall, it's quite comfy!

Close to ferries and town.

Quite expensive, toilet on corridor, shower in room but difficult to operate. As youthostel had bunk beds and room was small.

With that price it's the best place to stay and I'm very satisfied with it. :)

I like really low price, great location, very friendly staff and very good breakfast included. There were also washbowl, mirror and shower in every room.

The shower doors are leaky so you need to be very careful about them, breakfast hours finish at 9 (on week days) what is a bit too early for me and wi-fi didn't work while my stay.

It would have been more useful to have ensuite WC and shower down the hall, not the other way round. Shower cubicle damp. Lack of storage space. Only one chair. Breakfast very basic.

Owing to cancellation of ferry sailings I stayed an additional three nights, the staff could not have been more helpful. I will be returning soon for another longer stay. Everything is really great in this hostel.

The breakfast was good. The location was just great within five to ten minutes of the center of Cherbourg and the main shopping area. Eating out was good and the horse meat was tasty.

Encontramos el albergue perfecto en medio de la lluvia

La amabilidad del personal. Se mostraron muy atentos, ayudándonos a secar nuestra ropa mojada a la llegada al albergue. Y también a la salida, permitiéndonos guardar bicis y alforjas mientras íbamos a la estación para buscar autobuses que permitiesen subir bicis.

El desayuno nos pareció un poco "pobre". Tuvimos la ocasión de estar en otro albergue igual en Cancale y ahí el desayuno fue más variado y abundante.
