Extremely Disappointing Experience : Poor Service, Maintenance, and Professionalism My experience at The Story Hotel, Ludhiana, was extremely disappointing and far below acceptable hospitality standards. When I checked online, rooms were available at a price ₹500–₹600 lower than the rate quoted by the reception. I requested them to match the online price, but they refused. Instead, I was told that if I booked online, my money could get stuck and the hotel would not be responsible. Despite this discouraging response, I booked through Agoda. Upon arrival, the check-in process was unnecessarily delayed before I was finally allotted Room No. 614, in the Queen category. Unfortunately, the room itself was a complete disappointment: * TV not working upon entering the room. * No towels available in the bathroom. * Flush not working properly. * Shower and hand shower not functioning. * Only hot water was coming from the hand shower and washbasin, with no proper hot-and-cold mixing. * The towel-hanging stand was loose and hanging improperly. * No electric kettle in the room, despite repeated requests. * Basic toiletries were missing. Only small shampoo/conditioner bottles and a small soap were provided; there was no toothbrush or toothpaste. * Even getting towels and tea bags required repeated phone calls. I was told that the towels had not arrived from the laundry, and I had to call nearly ten times to request tea bags for an early-morning tea. The overall bathroom experience was particularly unpleasant, and the lack of basic amenities reflects poor housekeeping, maintenance, and management. To make matters worse, I was not provided with a bill for the food I ordered. This raises serious concerns about the hotel’s service standards and billing transparency. My advice to fellow travellers: Do not judge this hotel by its online availability or room rates alone. A hotel should provide basic facilities, courteous service, and a comfortable stay—not make guests repeatedly chase staff for essentials. The management seriously needs to improve room maintenance, housekeeping, staff behaviour, and billing practices. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this hotel, and I would not choose to stay here again.
