The Grand Terrace has some of the best views along the whole Yorkshire coastline, looking across the bay of Saltburn to Huntcliff and out to sea. You get a feeling of grandeur and olden day luxury as you make your way up the sweeping stone steps to the apartment. The terrace wraps itself around the exterior, making a perfect spot to sit and relax with a drink and watch the waves roll in and out again. The apartment itself was once was the hotel lobby, bar and dining room. In a wonderful location, you are in a prime position to unwind by the sea.

This apartment has lots of thoughtful extras, making it the perfect choice for families or couples. Features including high ceilings and chandeliers add to its character, invoking the grand Victorian history.

Step up to the private terrace and take in the views, the fresh sea air, and listen to the waves breaking below. Al fresco meals are a must when the sun is out. The interior of the apartment is bright, spacious and welcoming, and the kitchen is well equipped, and perfect for cooking family meals together. The open plan living/dining room looks out onto the breath taking, panoramic views over the sea. On an atmospheric stormy day, stay warm and cosy whilst watching the waves whip into a frothing frenzy.

Saltburn itself is stunning, with a glorious, long sandy beach, a pier, and lots of quirky bars, restaurants and independent shops. Take in the views on a stroll along the promenade and at the top of the cliff, you can travel in style to both the promenade and the pier by using the oldest operating water-balance cliff lift in the country! Saltburn is a surfer’s paradise and no matter what the season, you will see figures out at sea riding the waves. Nearby, you will find a local surf school where you can have lessons and hire equipment so you can join in the fun.

A popular inn along the beach is still famous for its link to pirates and smugglers, and you can get a feel for this as you walk the beach and admire the cliffs that surround the bay. Along the Heritage Coastline there are beautiful beaches, picturesque villages and wonderful scenic walks. Staithes, Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay are all just a short drive away, and for keen walkers, you can follow the Cleveland Way along the cliff tops. You are also surrounded by the North York Moors National Park. Beach ¼ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 40 yards.

The views from inside and outside The Terrace are stunning - uninterrupted view to Huncliff and the sea. It was fantastic seeing the changing colours of the landscape as the sun moved throughout the day. The apartment was well equipped - lots of kitchen equipment and utensils for cooking, plenty of crockery and cutlery and a dishwasher. Useful having the two toilets and the bathrooms were modern and clean. The location of the apartment is fantastic - all the shops, restaurants and cafes are on your doorstep. A short walk to the beach, easy access to Valley nature reserve and the Cleveland way. There are lots of lovely walks to do from the apartment.A couple of things for people to consider. We were lucky to have a sunny week in Saltburn. The apartment has full length french windows which means you cannot open them at night for security reasons - the terrace is accessible from the street so anyone could walk into the apartment if the windows are left open. This meant we were extremely hot in the bedrooms. We did ask Cottages.com for two fans but they said we would need to buy our own. I think it would be useful for these to be provided in the apartment. The other thing to bear in mind if you are a light sleeper, like me is that there is some road noise (I wore ear plugs) and also none of the curtains are black out curtains, so the main bedroom especially is very light once the sun comes up. Take eye shades if you cannot sleep with a light room.

We spent a couple of nights in this stylish apartment. We loved the lounge area with the wall of books and my grand daughter was very pleased to find her own small comfy chair. There were games a plenty and DVDs to watch on an evening. Disappointed with the damp wall in the second bedroom, also the kitchen bin has seen better days. Impressed with the appliances in the kitchen, more detailed instructions for the hob would have been useful. If the sun had been shining, we were there the start of November, I would have appreciated a cleaner outdoor space and furniture. We loved staying here and felt at home straight away.
