Log cabin 'Aurora' is set in the beautiful mountain area of Ylläs; Finland's number 1 ski resort. With a setting high above the Arctic Circle, the guaranteed snow throughout the skiing season makes for a perfect winter holiday. Ylläs has that special combination of peace and tranquility, yet all the winter activities you would expect from snow boarding to husky sledging and of course beginners and advanced skiing facilities. The traditional log cabin is very well located, close to the event agencies, 4 min away from a hotel with nice breakfast, lunch and dinner buffet. The ski bus and the bus to the airport stop in front of this hotel. The supermerket is also in walking distance.We enjoyed very much the fireplace in the log cabin same as the sauna. One night we were even able to see the northern lights from the small sauna window. Overall a very enjoyable stay!The spermaerket is also n walking d

Our first time in Finland and travelling with teenagers. Our plan was to ski, snowmobile and explore. The cabin served all our needs. The location is only a 5 min walk to the ski bus stop (outside the nearest hotel). Lift passes can also be bought from this hotel. This serves both ski mountains really well although we only used the north ski area.The supermarket is a 15 min walk and there are loads of activity shops, pubs and restaurants in close proximity.The cabin has a twin bedroom on the ground floor and a loft area with 2 single beds and a loo.It was warm, cosy and equipped with a wood fire, sauna, decent kitchen and cosy lounge area. Firewood is plentiful. Linda (our host) was very quick to respond to any questions or advice and the whole experience was enhanced by this accommodation. The surrounding area is beautiful. Would happily recommend.

From start to finish Linda has been fantastic answering all questions we had even down to recommendations for trips and restaurants… cabin is amazing the pictures don’t do it justice.. couldn’t have asked for a better location 10 min walk one way to the shops and frozen lake 2 mins walk the other way to a fantastic woodland walk .. seen the lights 3 times in 7 days, temp was around -23 most days so lovely to come back to a warm cosy cabin and use the sauna. Will be booking again for this new years too !! Both my kids (13) and (15) have travelled the world with us and had many experiences but we have all agreed this has been the best holiday we’ve had …. Thank you

We actually stayed here a couple of years ago but I realised I didn’t leave a review. Lovely property. We stayed here out of season in June, it was very quiet and peaceful but that’s what we like. Nice area, we found things to do, walking, hiring bikes. We saw lots of reindeer roaming around in the area. The owners have made it lovely for families with lots of nice little touches, games, dvd - my kids particularly loved the sit-on rocking reindeer. Great facilities in the house. Really friendly, helpful owner. The only thing I would suggest is maybe some blackout curtains for upstairs. We wanted to experience the midnight sun, which we did and it was unbelievable but so confusing when you wake up in the middle of the night not having a clue what time it is! (We also stayed at a property in Helsinki which didn’t have them either so maybe it is not a problem for locals!) All in all, a lovely place which I would recommend. Would be lovely to visit in the winter as well!
