Set on a historic cattle property established in the early 1900s, the cottage sits on its own ridgeline surrounded by rolling green hills, open skies and grazing cattle. Offering complete privacy, it feels a world away while being just 4 minutes from Federal village and 25 minutes from Byron Bay.
Guests have exclusive access to 102 acres of rolling countryside, private river frontage and some of the most beautiful views in the Byron Bay Hinterland.
Heartwood Farm has become known as a place of rest, renewal and reconnection. Many guests tell us they arrive feeling busy and leave feeling completely restored.
THE EXPERIENCE
Wake to birdsong and morning mist drifting across the valley.
Spend your days swimming in the Wilson River, reading on the verandah, soaking in the heated magnesium plunge pool, enjoying long baths in the clawfoot tub, exploring the property or simply doing absolutely nothing at all.
As the sun sets, gather around the fire pit with a glass of wine and unlimited complimentary firewood while the stars emerge above the hinterland.
Whether you're celebrating a special occasion, reconnecting with loved ones, seeking a romantic escape or simply needing time to slow down, Heartwood Farm provides the space to breathe, rest and reconnect.
THE PROPERTY
Established in the early 1900s, Heartwood Farm remains a working cattle property, offering guests an authentic hinterland experience while enjoying complete privacy.
The Wilson River forms the property's boundary and provides beautiful places to swim, fish, picnic and unwind beside the water.
Open meadows, rolling hills and mature trees create a sense of space and tranquillity rarely found elsewhere.
Despite its peaceful setting, Heartwood Farm is ideally located for exploring the best of the Northern Rivers region.
THE COTTAGE
Lovingly renovated and styled, the cottage combines heritage character with modern comfort.
Every detail has been carefully considered, from the curated furnishings and vintage treasures to the quality linens and thoughtful touches throughout.
The cottage features two queen bedrooms and accommodates up to five guests, including a rollaway bed available on request.

Due to the delicate nature of the furnishings and décor, Heartwood Farm is generally best suited to adults and children aged 12 years and over.
Families wishing to bring younger children are welcome to contact us prior to booking. A refundable $500 security deposit is apply.

We had the best stay at Heartwood Farm!If you are looking to getaway from it all, Heartwood Farm delivers that in abundance. The serenity, peace and misty morning views from the terrace over a morning coffee really hit the spot. The styling in the cottage is exquisite and with so many little details though out, including a picnic blanket to take down to the river, lawn games and marshmallows to roast over the fire pit.Nicole and Craig are excellent hosts and went above and beyond whilst we were there, quickly changing over the gas when it ran out, quickly providing supplies of wine and the best chilli margaritas when we ran low. Even though you are in the heart of the countryside you have Federal on your doorstep and Bangalow and Byron within an easy drive. Though we didn't really want to leave as we had everything we needed at the farm.I highly recommend booking Heartwood Farm and can't wait to return.

The views are fantastic and the walk to the river an added plus. The cottage is lovely and attention to detail impressive. We really enjoyed our stay on Heartwood Farm

The property was just stunning with amazing views. Everything was catered for and attention to detail was spot on. Nicole was amazing and was able to answer any questions. Would highly recommend this property to anyone.

Stayed here for a long weekend with my partner for our baby moon. The place is absolutely stunning. So peaceful and away from it all while still being close enough to everything so that we could enjoy eating out browsing some shops and some weekend markets. I can’t wait to come back and stay again
