Hummingbird Haven - Spacious, Cozy Cabin Walking Distance to the Lake!

Hummingbird Haven was a convenient home to stay in while attending a near by wedding. The house is extremely dated however was clean. It fit our needs for the weekend. The problem was the issue with the electric feed into the house. Prior to arrival we were told the dryer was not working and would not be repaired during our stay. Upon arrival, our family realized the oven/stove, microwave and mini splits were not working. After driving 8 hours we were unable to prepare any of the meals we brought with us. We called the after hours number and the maintenance guy promptly called us back. We informed him of the issues and he shared they had to replace the refrigerator earlier in the day. My husband told him it sounded like they had dropped a leg of power coming into house and we suggested they call the local power company to come out. Power company came out and confirmed we only had half power. We were completely without power for a few hours in the evening. We can't believe these issues were not known prior to our arrival. Our first evening in the house was spent in the dark, without dinner and on the phone dealing with this issue. Other potential dangerous issues in the house include in the master bathroom, the bar in the shower surround is not secured at all. When my 91 year old mother was showering and steadied herself with the bar it literally fell out. Thankfully, I was standing right outside the tub. There is an old floor outlet right in front of the couch that should be covered. It was tempting for our toddler, who was just playing on the floor, to put toys in the recessed outlet. There were switches on the lamps that were broken off and bulbs missing. Not a danger issue, but the coffee pot leaks a lot. Upon leaving the house, the lock button that the instructions say to push was not working. I don't mean to bash this house, it was fine for our quick stay but Friday night without electricity and no ability to cook food was unacceptable. It seems that with the appliance issues the previous day and prior to our arrival the electrical issue should have been realized and addressed. Chad, from maintenance was very responsive and sincere.

Very accommodating for the 8 of that stayed for 2 nights. There were occasionally bugs inside but hey its in the woods and they. The lake was walking distance and pretty to look at. We had problems with the microwave and they replaced it right away. The only issue was the motion sensor lights outside didn’t stay on but 10 seconds and ot was hard to unload the car or take dogs to use the bathroom at night. And the walk way to the house is easy to be tripped over. Other than that everything was great. Thanks for everything.

This rental property was great for a family get away check in was easy. The house was had all of the amenities we needed. :)

We enjoyed our stay. The home was very spacious and the yard well kept. Definitely would recommend for large family gatherings! There was a very small public access beach within a short walk out the back.
