It says check in at 2 pm but they will only assign you a bed at 4pm. They should be honest about their time. The lady was very unapologetic about it.

OK choice on the outskirts of Chamonix

It’s far from central Chamonix - it’s technically not even in Chamonix. Bus ride required to get to/from hostel. Shared bathroom definitely needs a renovation. There was often water all over the bathroom floor. Doors in hallway are loud when closing. Common area lighting is very dim.

The acommodation is ok for hikers that stay there one night. I would prefer cleaner place. I didn’t like much the breakf

Decent Good Value Accommodation in Chamonix

The common room is good and spacious, hot showers, decent breakfast. Location may be a bit off from the center but easily reachable by 10 min bus.

There's only one plug for the whole room. Yes there is a USB plug next to each bed, but with technology now that's USB C to USB C, having one plug for 6 people is not good.. What about to charge other things? Also, it's next to the sink! So whatever you charge there, it's going to get slightly wet when someone brushes their teeth of washes their face. Also, the key card almost always does not work. We made do by not locking the door when we go out to the toilets but imagine being the first one to enter the room during the day, and you can't get in.

The best place to stay in Chamonix on a budget

We stopped on - route to italy. We wished we were staying longer as the views were sensational from the youth hostel. The youth hostel is on a direct and frequent bus service to chamonix. The breakfast was brilliant, i might go back just for the breakfast! The staff were friendly and welcoming. All four of us slept in one room, this eas perfect for us as a family.

Investment in a few soft close doors and our door was difficult to unlock.

Lovely atmosphere. Would stay again

Really nice vibe here. There are sheep and goats and chickens, a vege garden. Breakfast has anything you could want. The staff are really helpful - be sure to ask for anything you need/ any questions you have. They have great deals on lift passes etc. There is a good supermarket nearby. I mainly drove into Flegeres (other end of town) where the cable car has free parking and you can access lots of hikes. Plentiful parking at the hostel.

Be aware of where it is. You will need to bus in or walk 30 mins to get into Chamonix town. It wasn’t a problem for me, just be aware. There is no self-catering kitchen - different countries have very different ways of doing hostel kitchens so just be aware - there is a fridge, kettle and microwave for you to use with some basic crockery etc. lots of us were eating salads and home made sandwiches etc that don’t require much prep.

Overall we enjoyed our stay, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the fire alarm put a dampener on our stay.

Views of the mountains, food was good, we had a bbq on the night we arrived, they catered from me being vegetarian, breakfast was delicious with fresh croissants. They were also close to a local bus route.

The fire alarm went off twice (each night) during our stay.

The location is great

Only one charging point in the dormitory. Near each bed only USB charging points are given which is not enough. WiFi only in the reception area and not in the dormitories. Toilets were not that clean.

It was indeed a lovely stay where I met a few lovely people. Definitely good for value!

1. I had a problem booking with the Aiguille du Midi as I never received the confirmation email from the organization. Julia was really helpful that she helped me call them and eventually got my confirmation letter. 2. Julia was very responsive when I complained about the noises being made by a group of people in the night. Always attentive to guests’ communication. 3. The hostel offers host card so you can travel by train for free during the stay. Hopefully bus would be covered too in the future. 4. There is regular live music down the reception hall, and it does create very positive energy.

1. There is no kitchen in the hostel. As this place is a bit remote from the down, and dinner time is fixed at 7.45pm. it would be nice to have a proper kitchen. 2. You may encounter summer camp where lots of kids might make big noises. so it is necessary to remind the tourism team with proper statement.

The en suite didn’t have its own toilet and it was a 28 minute walk outside of the main town, but it was walkable.

Quiet hostel good for hike holiday

Staff were very helpful and friendly, breakfast was ok and the rooms were comfortable and quiet area, easily accessible for public transport for hikes and also for catching the train home.

Breakfast could have a few more options, assigned beds was a strange issue that caused unnecessary drama for all, location is a little far out and I don’t think the bus ticket machine worked. Even though it was out of season, it would be nice to open the bar for a few hours in the evening to get a drink. I think the cost for being out of season was a little high.

Good value for money., beds were comfy, water was hot. There could have been more plug sockets available but there was usbs in each bunk. Breakfast was great.

It's very far from the city center. The room is not soundproof at all. The family couldn't sleep because of the noise of people coming and going until 2am. The accommodation is not clean. The breakfast is really simple. There are only croissants and baguettes.

A really nice Hostel

The staff is really nice, they offer you anything they can provide, the guest card is a plus, then the discount price in the Chamonix Pass and many stores have discount with them too, the breakfast it's OK.

The rooms doesn't have enough electric plugs. You should try avoiding getting showered early morning because the showers will take some extra time to warm up... In the afternoon the water is warm enough.

Lovely stay in beautiful hostel

I loved my stay here! The staff were happy to help, and the ski lift passes were such great value. Free breakfast was nice too. Very stunning hostel just out of the city centre, easily accessible by bus.

There is plenty of space and a good area to relax and socialize

We had food at the bar. A pizza. Both my friend and I had food poisoning from eating it. Pretty much ruined the stay. Staff didn’t accommodate us either.

Wonderful place to stay in Chamonix

The location is amazing—right under the mountains. Very helpful and friendly staff. Rooms in the summer were warm but clean and quiet. Breakfast was simple but delicious. Dinner was excellent. Well worth the price. When I come back to chamonix I will stay here again.

The youth hostel was located at only a few minutes drive from Chamonix. Up front, we received a lot of usefull info through the booking chat by the receptionist, Mathilde. She informed us about what to do (Mer de Glace & Aiguille du Midi) & that we could buy Mont Blanc MultiPasses at the hostel itself to enter all the cable cars for only 26,5€ per day. We arrived at 11:55 and the reception was normally only open until 12:00. Nevertheles the receptionist took the time to sell us the cable car tickets, to explain us where to go and when & where the breakfast/dinner was served. The room itself was rather small, but tidy. There were two seperate beds, a shower and a lavabo. We took dinner in the hostel once, which was enjoyable. Also the breakfast was ok: enough choice and decent quality. In the entrance hall were some suggestions written about restaurants, café's, ... in Chamonix city centre.

The room itself had a shower but not a toilet. The shower in the room didn't have a hanger: we had to hold it up ourselves. Therefore we showered in the mutual showers. There was no shower gel or soap.

It has everything you need as a solo traveler. I really liked breakfast and the personal staff are always charming with you. Plus they could provide you a cable car card with a cheap fare for a round trip.

It has a nice homey feel to it as opposed to some of the bigger chain hostels that feel sterile. The community dinners were a nice touch.

I was informed by the hostel in advance, but it is inconvenient that there is only one outlet in the room. This may apply only to my room, but the card key is not working well, and it is difficult to unlock the room. Even after telling the reception and exchanging the key, it was not improved.
