    The place is amazing, there is good common area, 2 showers, nice kitchen, the beds are comfortable and large with storage chest that can fit mid size backpack. The only downside of this place is location as it is quite far away from any activities to do in Kyoto, it is especially problematic by night when there are no buses

    No the title isn't meant to be depressing or anything. Lonely only because I was solo! The place is a little run down, but it has its charms of a traditional Japanese home. Just beware of the low beams everywhere, I knocked my head against those darn beams multiple times! The hostel is rather annoying to get to as it's about 15-20 mins brisk walk from the nearest JR station. However there is a bus you can take but the waiting interval means you might be better off walking to it instead.

    A nice hostel with spacious beds and cozy. Immaculately clean. However, my experience was ruined by very inconsiderate roommates who stayed in their beds most of the day and made a lot if disturbance during the night. For example using a hairdryer at 1am. Waking up and eating crisps and snacks at around 3am in a dorm that specifically said no food allowed. One guy even made numerous phone calls from his bed. I've travelled extensively for the past 2 years and have never encountered such a group of inconsiderate fellow travellers. The staff were very sweet but, lack of presence meant they couldn't really enforce these things. The lights were also super annoying as they were motion lights and were on and off all night when someone even moved in the dorm. Beware the building gets cold in the common areas.

    It’s a very basic hostel/dorm they do not provide towels even if you stay more than a day. Aircon is switched off in the morning till evening and depending on which bed you pick it can be super hot as the bed is quite deep in. There’s only 2 showers which can have a queue when there’s a lot of people. Staff only comes in at 4pm and ends at 9pm which can be hard to catch if you’re out the whole day. I’ve been to similar priced hostels with better facilities and amenities. If I had to choose again I’d think twice.
