Avanel Boutique Apartments

The property is on the edge of town - great location if you want to explore ronda and the area around it. There is a great pool with great views.

There's no parking, and parking in the street can be tricky in Ronda. Suggest that you look for a car park or park further away from the property.

The absolute best thing about this property was the view. We had a balcony and the view across the valley was outstanding! The location was fab, only a very short walk to the centre of Ronda. The other great feature was the pool of course. There was a small kitchen with a kettle, coffee maker (and pods) and a fridge.

Interior is a bit dated but we didn't spend much time inside and this isn't a big priority for us. Aircon was a bit noisy but again, not a deal breaker!

Loft: Spacious, basic, quiet neighbourhood, pool and mountain view

1. Incredibly uncomfortable bed which sagged in the middle 2. Abhorrent attitude of host, Jose 3. Factual inaccuracy in booking.com listing Firstly, factual inaccuracy on the listing. We booked a loft apartment which in its listing included washing machine and balcony as its facilities. Nothing in the description said otherwise and we were allocated an apartment without a balcony (just pool view) and a shared washing machine on another level. We clarified with the host in person (Jose) about our apartment - we showed our loft booking’s inclusions and even used a new booking as an example showing that the “loft” listing included a balcony. However Jose was curt & rude, and faulted booking.com for limiting his ability to remove “balcony” from the listing and said it couldn’t be changed anyway. We knew this was false as we have listings on booking.com ourselves and know how it works. He ended up giving a “pfft” with his lips and very insincerely said sorry and stomped off. Secondly, we had properly completed the online registration form that was required under the property’s policy but continued to be chased for more information. To be clear, we completed all mandatory fields and details, and the form was even marked as “Completed” with a tick but Jose insisted at least 3 times that it was incomplete because the optional fields were not filled up. We explained that those info were not marked with asterisks in the form and hence not mandatory but he remained very unreasonable. Overall, the apartments are OK and it didn’t matter to us whether we had the balcony or not, although I’d say the price we paid was expensive since we didn’t have a balcony; and the female staff who checked us in was nice and polite. Unfortunately we had to deal with Jose which made the experience especially frustrating.
