Felt like a business hotel with dorm-style shared bathroom. I received a standard dorm room bed, not the pod-style bed shown in the photo. However, it was totally fine for a one-night sleep. I read ahead and expected it to be cold in the rooms--definitely bring comfy pants and long-sleeve for sleeping so you stay cozy! An eye mask and earplugs/white noise/noise-canceling is also a good idea. The bathroom situation was great for being shared. The hotel was clearly busy with a lot of guests, but I never had to wait to use any of the bathroom facilities. There is even a separate room for doing hair and makeup! A little worn but clean, and plenty of hot water. The two staff I encountered at Stay Classy were exceptionally helpful, polite, and kind, as good as the staff at the 4-star La Jolla hotel that I stayed at the rest of my trip.

People need to be aware that San Diego has a huge homeless problem in downtown area and that is even more evident in the location where the hostel is located. If this place were located in a different area, I would recommend it definitely, since it fills most of the boxes for a hostel staying.
