"Camper was open for us when we got there. Very thankful for the air conditioning to cool us off after hiking 6 miles in 90 degree heat. "

It was a nice little place, secluded, quiet. Town was close by and the food at the local bars was quite good. Lots of movies to choose from should there be bad weather or something. All in all nice little place.

The set-up is unique: the unit is an old RV attached to a large, nicely furnished screened porch. The owners of the unit were responsive and nice and they accurately described the unit. The RV has the essentials: a short queen bed, a minimal kitchen, and a tiny bathroom.. The add-on porch is open and airy, in contrast to the dark and galley-like configuration of the RV. The unit is a bit secluded from the other units in the RV park and it has a sweet gazebo outside. It is just a few minutes’ drive from Kettle Morraine/Mauthe Lake. There are some negatives: the RV has a very faint smell of cigarette smoke (I would guess it is a decades-old smell, in the woodwork and walls). The tiny shower has a very high step to get inside it and, unless you are a child, you will be wrapped in the shower curtain because the shower it is so small. There is no storage for clothes so we were tripping over our full suitcases. The most difficult thing is the uncomfortable beds: they are hard as rocks. I could not sleep on the queen and my husband could not sleep on the queen or the futon I note that a previous review mentioned bringing a mattress topper, which I thought was ridiculous BEFORE visiting. The bunk beds are too small for adults, so we didn't try. In sum, the unit was accurately described. We knew we were staying in an RV and that it would be small (again, the airy porch provides needed light and room). Re-reading reviews, I am not surprised that some refer to the unit as a camping or rustic experience. It is certainly more convenient than tent camping, but may not be as comfortable as more traditional lodging.. The unit cost (rent and several fees) is considerably more expensive than nearby motels, but it is closer than anything we could find to the beautiful park, as it is about a 6-7 minute drive. I think the unit could work for a couple (I cannot see the unit housing more than 2 adults) if both are able to sleep on a very hard surface (which we could do just a few years ago!).
