Chalet 26 Widemouth Bay

The chalet was lovely the site was quiet but a great base for exploring the area. Free accessed to swimming pool and gym, bar on site launderette certainly met all our needs. The site staff were very nice.

The property was brilliant. What could be added was a couple of foldable deck chairs for the grass area but that does not detract from the chalet it is just an idea other than that it had everything you could need and more.

The place was beautifully situated on a hill, and we had a partial view of the sea, which was a lovely surprise. We could enjoy the sunsets without even having to go down to the beach. The chalet had everything we needed.

The chalet had everything we needed, although as someone who enjoys cooking, I only missed a good chef knife.

Lovely location and view

Nothing apart from no bread knife and no knives suitable for spreading butter etc.

Good location, short drive to Bude and nearby Black Rock beach. Nice and quiet, weren't disturbed by other people staying in the village. Easy to retrieve keys and short distance from the car park. Nice touch having a DVD player built into the TV and providing DVDs to watch in a box under the table in the living room.

The double bed was very soft and led to both myself and my wife having bad backs by the end of the trip. There is a £65 cleaning fee included in the price, which seems steep, especially as the cleanliness could have been better. The oven was not clean, the outside tables looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, the freezer compartment needs defrosting and there were multiple cobwebs around the chalet. The dishes, pans and utensils were not very clean, so we had to wash everything up before we used it. No hand soap in the kitchen, only in the bathroom. You are asked to remove your rubbish, which is fine, but we could only find one replacement bin bag for the kitchen bin and two black bin bags. The chalet wasn't in a very good state of repair, for example, the bedroom door didn't close properly, there is a very wobbly table in the room with the two single beds which had a lamp on it. It had been badly repaired with screws sticking out of it. The living room door catches on the floor as you open it, making a loud, grating noise which woke the baby several times. All facilities closed on the site for the foreseeable future so no bar or washing facilities etc. We tried to follow the signs for "Path to the beach" but found it just led to a sheep field with no clear path through. Perhaps something that could be included in the welcome pack, which they have in the living room.
