The Black Palms - Fistral Beach

This was a birthday getaway for my husband, and we couldn't have chosen a better place. The room was lovely – really spacious, with an enormous bed. The mattress was on the firmer side, which suited us perfectly (if you like feeling like you're sleeping on a marshmallow, your opinion may differ). The pillows were light duck & down. We tend to prefer firmer pillows, but that's completely down to personal preference rather than a criticism. The apartment had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, sugar, salt, pepper... all thoughtfully provided. There were tea cups, wine glasses (V Important!), plenty of cutlery and utensils, chopping boards, trays, tea towels, washing-up liquid, an iron and ironing board, and a hairdryer. We kept trying to think of something they'd forgotten and failed miserably. Garden was absolutely exceptional. You could tell they're a real labour of love. Cooking is done on the gas BBQ, which also has an additional hob. My husband absolutely loved this (I suspect he's now considering replacing our kitchen with one). It was so unbelievably clean that we genuinely felt guilty using it for the first time. We almost apologised to it. Sandy was simply wonderful and made our stay even more fab. She made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Although I didn't get to meet Aaron, he went above and beyond to help when our BBQ gas decided it used up. Nothing was too much trouble. The location is fantastic, 2 mins to Fistral. It was all the little touches that really made the difference. There was a bottle of wine (and milk) waiting in the fridge when we arrived, and then Sandy surprised us with another bottle on our last evening. Such a thoughtful gesture. I've left a couple of very minor suggestions, but they're based on personal preference rather than any fault with the accommodation. In all honesty, if none of them were ever changed, we'd still happily return.

A few tiny suggestions (and these really are tiny!) I didn't really give it much thought either while there. To be honest, there's very little to mention here, and anything below is more about personal preference than criticism. The only thing my back had a little disagreement with was the low unit where the kettle and toaster are kept. Unfortunately, my back occasionally likes to remind me I'm not 21 anymore. I think a simple shelf at a more comfortable height would make a huge difference and would probably be an easy addition. It could even be a handy spot for a small plug-in induction hob for anyone wanting to do a bit more cooking (with the right pans, of course). The washing-up arrangement worked absolutely fine, and I didn't mind washing up in the bathroom at all. The only thing I found myself wishing for was a small draining board, simply so everything could dry a bit quicker before the sink needed to return to its day job! A washing-up bowl would also be a great little addition. Normally I wouldn't give one a second thought, but the sink was so lovely I spent most of the time worrying I'd chip a plate instead of just washing it. One final thing for anyone arriving in a lower car: the road leading into the car park is a little uneven, so it's worth taking it nice and slowly. We were in an SUV and had no issues whatsoever, and honestly, having free, safe parking so close to everything was a real bonus. I'd take driving at walking pace for 20 seconds over hunting for a parking space any day! As I said, these aren't complaints at all—just a few ideas that might make an already wonderful place even better. We'd happily stay again exactly as it is. Oh just though a big fan would be a bonus but to honest we did bring three with us :-)

Lovely apartment and stayed cool in the heatwave. We had a beautiful garden area full of of plants with magnificent palms and Yuccas and shady outside spaces to relax. A short walk to steps down to Fistral beach. Perfect in good weather.

It had a barbecue which we didn’t use but no hob, only a microwave

We went to this property to surf! It's a fantastic location - you can walk from the property to the beach with your surfboard. We loved it! It has everything you need nearby. Perfect stay.

We liked everything!

Sheets and pillows were lush. Garden lovely. Near the beach. Shower amazing. Plenty of towels.

No kitchen, however a microwave and small fridge were provided . No knives or scissors which we missed somewhat but we managed. A bit dark and sofa only a 2 seater (I do love to lounge). I used the bed for this which was very comfortable.
