We decided to go from Polonnaruwa to Maskeliya by bus last moment and Ambepussa was a convenient layover point. We were to arrive there by 00:00. Wijaya Tourist Inn was the only place with the convenient location on booking.com and their check in closed at 22:00. Since I booked last moment I called the contact number and the hotel owner confirmed that they could reopen and let us in the room at 12.
My bus then was 2h late but the owner was incredibly helpful and nice and when I arrived at ~12:40 he sent me the map how to get to the hotel and the manager stayed in the hotel 3h after the check in closed until we arrived and kindly let us in.
Value for money is great and I was amazed at the staff helpfulness and hospitality!
The room was not very clean and the fan made a loud sound but it was not that important at the moment
